turkeyplacecardsSince Thanksgiving is fast approaching, I’m getting a jump on my feast preparations. Food has to be fresh but table settings? Those we can do now.  I’m doing these placecards with a Pre-School class for thier Thanksgiving Feast and today my kids made up thier own little Turkey Placecards. They loved it so much I ‘m wondering how to keep them from using them everyday from now until Thanksgiving!

turkeyplacecards2Time; 15-30 minutes
Recommended Ages; 3 and up.
Supplies needed;
Feathers (cut 2 ½-4 inches)
Brown Cardstock
Orange cardstock
Red cardstock scraps
Scissors
Google Eyes
TurkeyPattern (click and print)
TOMBOW Mono Glue Pen
TOMBOW Color Glue Stick

TOMBOW Dual Brush Pens

1-     Cut Orange cardstock into 3×4 1/2 “ blocks. (One per place card). Fold in half lengthwise.

2-     Print turkey pattern out onto brown cardstock.

3-     Have children cut turkey bodies out.

4-     Fold orange scraps in half and cut tiny triangles into the fold. These will be the beaks. Cut little oval pieces out of red scraps for the snood (yeah, I looked it up, that’s the red flappy part by their beaks!)

5-     Use TOMBOW Mono Glue pen to attach beak, snood and eyes to the head of the turkey to the unprinted side of your turkey.

6-     On the printed side of the turkey cover it with your TOMBOW Color Glue Stick. It will be blue but it dries clear. Trust me; it will help the kids see where the glue is to place the feathers.  Glue 5 feathers to the back. Applying glue to each new layer as needed. Set aside.

7-     On the orange tent, have the child write his/her name with the TOMBOW Dual Brush Pens. (make sure to leave a spot for the turkey on the left or right)

8-     Using the Glue Stick, apply the completed turkey. It should still be wet and you can adjust the feathers once it’s attached. It will dry within 5-10 minutes so make sure they’re placed just where you want them.

Now check place cards of your list of “Thanksgiving to-do’s” and start gathering those recipes! Enjoy your Tuesday!

These are so cute and such a reminder of when I was young. This is exactly the kind of thing my mom would have us sit down and do with our grandparents on Wednesday night to stay out of her hair while she got the big family meal ready for Thursday.

    Love this!

These so remind me of the projects I have from when my kids were little. At 21 and 25 the holidays are not quite the same. I do pull out their old projects to decorate the table!

    Very cute!

How cute! Might tweak it a bit with the kiddos handprints as the tailfeathers.
