Today we are thankful for Melanie!! She just won today’s dual brush markers. I wonder what color set she’ll choose.

There is something magical about seeing your children’s dreams form and their imaginations take flight. While I’m busy preparing our Thanksgiving feast with my little pilgrim girl, I have a little Indian brave in the backyard working on target practice. This summer my 6 year old son became obsessed with Native American Indians. He say’s when he grows up he wants to be an Indian Chief. He discovered this new culture at Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump in Southern Alberta, Canada. It is an amazing museum that really does capture a unique time in history. A few days later, after hearing about nothing but Indians we bought him a handmade wooden bow and arrow toy. The set only came with 3 arrows and they were lost before we had made it back to the states. Once that little boy gets something in his mind there is no going back! So after spending weeks online looking for replacement arrows to this beloved handmade (with not luck!) we opted to make our own. Just a few dowels, arrowheads, feathers and my trusty Tombow Mono Multi liquid Glue and we were good to go!
He helped glue the feathers to the dowels (2 per) and then Daddy tied the arrowheads with twine and glued that. Once they were dry we needed a case! He glued a piece of felt to cardstock then wrapped it around (more Mono Multi here too) a disposable plastic cup. Add a little ribbon and ta-dum! It’s been his favorite toy all fall. It’s held up perfectly and his shot has improved night and day (as long as his pilgram sister doesn’t get in the way there are no tears). My 6 year olds dreams of becoming an Indian Chief seem more possible than ever! Happy Thanksgiving!

Did I win? Or was it another Melanie? Not sure …. so hoping it was me! I want the Earth colors!
Thank you so much! How exciting
I live about 30 min from Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump (I live in Lethbridge AB)! While in this area, did you get to Writing On Stone National Park? Did you check out the NWMP fort in Fort McLeod? How about Fort Whoop Up in Lethbridge?
If you are ever in this area again on vacation, please let me know! It would be great to meet
