Tombow Tots – New Year’s Hats
new year’s eve this year was a stay-at-home-pajama-eating fest!
just me, hubby, two kids and the new wii…but even that can’t keep their attention all night.
so, in between movies, eating and the wii i put out some supplies to make our own party hats.
we used styrofoam bowls, sequins and foam shapes, mini straws (aka coffee stirrers), ribbon and Tombow Mono Multi Glue. love the glue in the green bottle! Although the glue does dry a little tacky and little fingers were sticky by the time we were done, as little hands were gluing little pieces, the end result was perfect for 12:00 midnight.

tip: to create the hat with the numbers sticking straight up…first we cut out numbers (they had been printed onto cardstock). then we used the Multi to glue the mini straws to the numbers. once those were dry we poked holes through the top of the hat (or bottom of the bowl). i was worried that the straws would slide right out, so i filled in the holes with more Multi. it will stay tacky, so don’t over-do it…but it dries white to blend with the bowl and those numbers are staying put!
so don’t hold back, let those little ones be creative…make hats for your next party, shindig, or lazy day at home.
happy new year!
