This week’s Tombow Tots is about touch and texture and being outside. Enjoying the outdoors and discovering the little treasures it holds for your little ones. It’s also about finding the right adhesive for each material. First we took the kids on a nature treasure hunt. You could go for a hike, take a walk through your neighborhood, or just search the backyard. Just make sure the kids have a bag or basket to put their ‘finds’. Have them look for items that have different colors and textures and shapes. It’s actually quite amazing to see their personalities come out in what they find.
I found one simple owl pattern in a coloring book and copied it onto card stock but any page from a coloring book works. I my big box of adhesives in front of the kids and let them go to town. Some worked inside the lines, others built entirely new pictures. They all loved it! I will say that the easiest adhesive for them, regardless of age was the Tombow MONO Glue Stick, although a few of the items (like rocks and branches) stuck on the best with MONO Adhesive POWERBOND. (they won’t budge!) Both of those dry almost immediately so it helps with the patience level too. I love the finished product it created and I’m sure this will be one activity the kids beg to do again and again throughout the summer. Oh wait, one more tip! And trust me, this is a good one. Use the picnic tables outside to work on. My poor kitchen floor didn’t appreciate the twigs, leaves and dirt that was tracked in.
Happy Tuesday!
