Is the last ABC Week of the year!! I hope you enjoyed this year with us as much as I enjoyed being on this awesome team!!  For this project I felt like doing something a little more free and for me instead of making something that needed to be perfect for my daughter or someone else. I just came across a list call 33 Ways To Stay Creative and I just loved it!! This is a must project for every craftroom or crafty friend and I think we all need to take a little something of this awesome list. It helped me a lot!!

For this project I went simple green, meaning that I used Toilet Paper Rolls for the base of this mini and then used 6×6 patterned paper and Mono Multi Liquid Glue to cover the rolls. The Mono Multi Liquid Glue also work for embellishments like the felt flower I made, the feather and of course the paper butterfly. The great thing about a mini like this is that you don’t need to buy extra stuff to make it, so if your New Year’s Resolution is to hoard less paper or embellishments this is a great project. I just used whatever I had laying around my craftroom. I used 5 toilet paper rolls and on the inside I took a 2×8 piece of cardstock and fold it in half, that way each piece had 4 pages. That was a total of 20 spaces to write the 33 ways to stay creative. I picked my favorite ten and used them for the outside of the paper rolls and the rest were displayed on the cards. Instead of printing the list or using my handwriting I used lots of alpha stickers, punch outs and my label maker. I used my Tombow Dual Brush Pens to doodle, color stamps and stamp some of my images.

I used a lot of alphas and mixed some of them up because for some reason there are never enough vowels, r or s. I also used decorative tapes, border punches and paper scraps. I used my Stamp Runner for the scraps, the stamp feature of the Stamp Runner is great for those tiny pieces of paper. I also used some free downloads to print.

I loved making this kind of inspirational project, without a doubt I’ll be making a few of these in 2012. Well, I think this project takes care of #33. Do you think you are in the mood to try some of the things of this list?

I know some Tombow Products that can help you…

I hope you liked this project!!

while contemplating ideas for this week’s theme ….”the gift that keeps on giving”
i decided to look up the origin of the saying. did you know that it was coined to promote “talking machines”, “talking machine records” in 1924, which was a phonograph.
who knew???? i certainly didn’t.
but that didn’t help me with my idea. and then i got to thinking, the gift idea i had found for my husband for this year is a gift that will keep on giving…at least until December 2012!
my gift is a year’s worth of dates. my husband is very supportive of my creative projects, so i know he will appreciate the time that i am putting into this. so as the scrapbooker that i am, i wanted to make a place to keep pictures or our thoughts about the dates. i created a little book to present to him on christmas morning.

SHHHHH!!! it is supposed to be a secret! i won’t even let him look at this post!

i found these mini folders at the teacher supply store. by binding them together i turned them into a book. i wanted a place to keep ticket stubs, notes and/or pictures, so i used Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue and glued the bottom of each of the folders together. when i give it to him some of the pockets will have gift certificates inside.
Aqua is the best option for making pockets because it dries clear and it dries completely…so no sticky residue that papers in the pocket would get stuck to.

i printed off descriptions of the dates in text boxes from a word document and used Tombow MONO Adhesive Dots to attach one to each of the folders/pockets.
this is the bare bones without too much embellishment, i may save that for later, or let the dates speak for themselves.

i found several of my ideas around the internet, so not all are original. but i thought i’d share some of the ones i have planned…
*lunch @ Atlanta Bread Company to work out yearly budget – (i know…this is FUN one!)
*bucket of balls – driving range and donut holes from Krispy Kreme
*make calzones @ home and watch a movie
*dollar date – dollar store, dollar menu, dollar theatre
*movie theatre
*walk in the park with italian ice
*Gwinnet Braves baseball game

well then, i’ll be giving for a whole year!

This week, the girls of Tombow have been giving you ideas for that cooking fan in your life. I made a mini with pockets that way, that special person can put their own recipe cards there.  My main inspiration was the traditional kitchen style with the housewife in the apron and the tablecloths inspired papers. I also used a doily which apparently are for cakes, I wouldn’t know, since I am an amateur chef.

I started with a plain chipboard mini album and covered it with paper using my go to glue, the Tombow Mono Multi Glue. *The amazing thing about the Tombow Mono Multi Glue is that it has a fine tip for those small details and embellishments, but it also has a broad tip for covering big spaces like the chipboard mini. The way the tip is made allows you to spread the glue across the surface. For my die cuts I used Tombow Foam Tabs which are crush resistant that way you’ll never lose the dimension. I made some pockets for the recipe cards and I used a technique that gives it a little bit of wiggle room for at least 4 recipe cards. I just used a one inch wide strip of paper folded in half and used my Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive to glue one part to the mini and the other part to the inside of the pocket.

This is a perfect gift idea! I don’t know if you know it but, Christmas is only 17 days away, so you better get started on your gifts!! You better stock up on your Tombow products because you will need them!!

I hope you enjoyed my project as much as I enjoyed making it!! Happy Thursday and come back tomorrow for Melissa’s project!!

How do I get ready for the holidays??

To be honest I am always behind, except when it comes to shopping. I hate to be in lines for hours so I always do my shopping at the beginning of November. But I work on cards two weeks before Christmas. Since I don’t do so many… it works for me. However, when it comes to scrapbooking Christmas memories I always do it the next year. This is the case of this layout, last years pictures and I just did the layout. The good thing about this is that I use things that I already have instead of going to the store to buy more things.

I used an old Momenta paper pack for this layout and the solid textured cardstock for matting and the blue background is from Colorbok.

For the doodling around the page I used the Tombow Blue Dual Brush pen #443 from the Groovy Collection and for the green circle I used the Green #195 Dual Brush pen from the Retro Collection.

For this Cute Santa I did some fussy cutting from another page and the title is a punch out that I matted. I used Tombow’s Foam Tabs on the Santa Claus and all the punch outs.

I used dew drops of the Tombow Mono Multi glue on the I Believe in Santa Punch Out and the letter stickers are from My Little Shoebox.I also used some bling on the Christmas Tree.  Noticed the simple gifts? Well this is the time to save money on gifts before she starts asking for PSP, DS and all the other expensive letters.

Have fun with your family this Holiday Season!!

For this week’s ABC (Anything But a Card) Challenge, I decided to finish this album I started 3 years ago!! Unfortunately, since it didn’t have the wrapper I do not know who it is by. It is a chipboard album that came blank. I altered it with papers that I had precut (so don’t know who they are by either!…if anyone knows, please let me know and I will add it to my post).

I used Mono Adhesive Power Bond to adhere the papers to the chipboard on the outside as well as on the inside. To adhere the Fall letters (cut with Stamped Cricut cartridge) I used Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive. I love using this adhesive for letters, because I can rub off the excess adhesive. Marie did a tipnique on this last week. You can go here to see it. I’ve been doing this for a long time. The dot adhesive is perfect for those smaller pieces.

Thanks for stopping by,

it’s my favorite time of the month! blog hop time. i have really enjoyed working with the “OCT 31″ line by Fancy Pants.

the line has so many enchanting papers, easy to use stickers and fun embellishments. i should have taken a picture of all of it before i started working, but i didn’t (too eager to get to work!)

so instead, this time i am entertaining you with a picture of “after”…what i was left with. it may look like a lot, until you see what i started with! and here is a link to everything that is included in this line from Fancy Pants. ( i had MOST of it!)

from my first glance at the papers in this collection i knew that they would be perfect for this COMING  halloween, since my daughter is dressing as a witch. i’ve been working a halloween or two in the past each year and i’ve never been concerned with matching costumes to the paper used for the memory keeping, but it was the perfect choice for this year.

i began with a 2 page layout, using quite a bit of product without making it feel overwhelming or busy. i used Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent. i left lots of room for pictures to document our costume choices for this year.

once that was finished I started work on a a small album where I could keep pictures of all the events of the holiday – Trunk-or-Treat at church, Trick-or-Treating on Halloween, classroom parties, pumpkin carving, and our own Halloween party. i needed a standard size, so i made mats for pictures that would be printed wallet size. This way I can fit many pictures on a page, even though the page is only 6×12.

for this album i used Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent  for all the paper embellishments and mats, and i used Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Adhesive to adhere the background papers to the chipboard album pages. (album by pink paislee).

to create the album i spread the pages out…and then all around i laid out the sticker sheets, chipboard stickers, die cuts and paper scraps from previously cut sheets, and worked on one set of pages at a time. first i added some photo mats, then i would scour through all the goodies to find embellishments that complimented each other and helped pull the page together.

title page

filler pages

back page

there is plenty of room to add more pictures if needed, and room to add journaling. two things to keep in mind when pre-making an album.

so in my goal to use as much as i could and i managed a double page layout, a 10 page mini album, and a huge sense of accomplishment…Halloween memories are ready to be made!

Today I have a fun Baby Boy Paper Bag album that I created for my cousin’s precious baby James David Prouty. My cousin has decorated his baby room in green, burnt orange and chocolate. It was so much fun to make an album in these colors. I just went thru all my stash of papers, stickers and embellishments and picked out everything that matched and then started cutting papers to fit my paper bag album.

I used Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Power Bond to put the album together. I like the extra strength of this adhesive and use it on my albums. For the ribbons, I used Mono Adhesive Dots, Roller. There are lots of pages and photos. I hope you enjoy viewing them all.

I typed his name on cardstock, then punched with an oval word punch, then ribbon cut the ends.

Here is an angle view of the whole album:

And here are the inside pages:

i have read this book so many times…

to my kids, to my pre-kindergarten class…

children need to know they are loved, and this book gives so many wonderful examples of personalities, quirks and traits that parents love about their children.

each time i read it I knew that i had to make a scrapbook project based on this book. our challenge this week to create something based on a book pushed me to get it started.

i created a microsoft word document with the words from the book. there are two quotes to a page in two columns, and can easily be printed and cut in half vertically and/or horizontally to create the pages of the book. be sure to print a test page and adjust the wording once you choose what font you want.

(my book came out to be 4 ¼ x 4 ¾ because I didn’t print a test page. i’m making the mistakes so you don’t have too  : }  )

i wanted a gated album, so i used a piece of chipboard for the back and punched holes on either sides of the quote pages. i used my “cinch” binding tool from We R Memory Keepers to punch the holes and add the wire binding.)

then came the fun task of decorating it. this was a perfect project to use the wide array of Tombow adhesives available. I used Tombow MONO Multi to add pattern paper to the back cover, and Tombow MONO Adhesive Clear to add the “S” and “C” to the Hambly Screen Print/Transparency front cover. I used Tombow Power Bond to add the pictures and Tombow MONO Aqua for the embellishments. i used the strongest stuff, as i anticipate these albums will be looked at a lot. (Paper is from October Afternoon’s “Cherry Hill” and “Fly A Kite” collections)

here is the front cover before i put it together. i used the Dual Brush Pen to ink the edges of the letters, then attached them to the back side of the transparency.
a trick to using the MONO Adhesive Clear is to keep the application of the adhesive smooth. i use a surface i know i can rub the adhesive off of…and i’ll run the adhesive off the edge of the paper. that way it stays smooth and virtually invisible when it is used on the transparency.

i also like to do that when i have a tiny piece to add. take a look at this cherry stem. used the permanent adhesive runner on it and purposefully went off the edge. then i have full coverage and i’m not worried about the shape not sticking.

here are some of the other pages from the album.

did I mention i got a little ambitious and made one for each of my kids, that way it is personal and they don’t fight over it. i divided up the quotes from the story, about half for each book. however I made sure that when the quotes were divided i kept the rhyming ones together (it will make more sense when you read through the quotes listed on the microsoft word document). i also made sure the first two and the last two quotes appeared in each book.

i managed to use lots of my favorite “random” pictures from the last few months.

what book has moved you to create a project about it? let us know! we’d love to see your work!

if you read through to the end…. your reward is the word document (i hope…fingers crossed it links! email me at dolizah at hotmail dot com with “you are my i love you” in the subject line and i’ll send you the document).

you are my i love you

Tombow is partnering up with Echo Park this week, so be sure to stop by their blog to see all the wonderful projects that have been created using products from both companies.

I have been wanting to make a word book album for a long time. When I first saw  them in scrapbooking stores, I didn’t want to pay the price, so kept holding  off. I was so excited to see Cutting Cafe’s A-Z Huge Letter Sheets cutting file. Now I can make any word book I want with this file. Ü

While these are somewhat time consuming, they are fun. The nice thing is if I want to make a boy version (which I will) after making the pages the sizes I wanted, they are now done and saved to my computer so I don’t have to do that again.

For the whole album I used Echo Park’s Country Drive paper line and Tombow’s Stamp Runner Permanent adhesive.

Now on to my album:

The idea for this page came from a gal  that I met at CHA. Her name is Nana Campana. She showed me this cool  album that she had made using Tombow’s Fastener Tabs where you can switch the  words under a photo. That is what I did on the page below.

Now here is the line up for the Echo Park DT. Be sure to stop by and comment on each one.

This is a very long post, so go get some tea, coffee, Coke and a snack and then come back to read. Ü

This fun album is made by altering a children’s board book. You can pick these up for just a few cents at a Goodwill store, but this one was purchased new for $1 at Dollar General. I just cut along the spine with my rotary cutter and mat. I was able to get two albums from one book.

After cutting the pages to the same size, I punched holes on one side with my Crop a dile. This tool is great for chipboard this thick.

Then I just cut patterned paper to the size of the page and adhered to the book “page” with Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Power Bond. This adhesive is perfect for this project! I used Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Permanent to adhere all other pieces together on the pages.

I designed a boy and girl album. Here is the front to the girl album. The “g” was cut from my computer and the other letters are cut with Sizzlets dies. The paper is some I picked up at Target long ago. To hold my album together I used O rings and then tied lots of ribbon to the rings.

The following pictures are of the pages inside the album.

For the back I just covered with the argyle pattern.

Now here is the boy version.

see the tear drop on this page? It’s a guitar pick (that they use to play the guitar so their fingers don’t get sore). Anyway I saw some in a marked down bin one time and got them for a few cents. I covered on with paper and they make a fun accent to a page.

WHEW! I told you this was a long post. I hope this has inspired you to go and buy a board book (or maybe use one you have laying around the house that the kiddos have outgrown) and alter it. If you do, I would love to see it.
