I loved the natural kraft look of jillibean soup’s  ‘talk soup on kraft’ collection.

Along with matching embellishments it was a breeze to create an album with TOMBOW adhesives and fill with matching pages. The sturdy wooden album cover is from Walnut Hollow and will protect treasured photos as children delight in them over and over.

Cover the album with decorative paper from jillibean soup’s ‘talk soup on kraft’ collection. I ripped large pieces of paper to cover and create the forest landscape. Make the pieces large enough to have a slight 1/4” overhang. Cover the entire back of the paper pieces with MONO Aqua Liquid Glue using the broad applicator. Press them into place with a bone folder for a secure adhesion with no wrinkles.

When dry, use a sanding block to ‘cut’ the excess paper away by sanding at a 45 angle. This creates a perfect flush finish to the edges of the album.

Additional paper pieces, such as the ‘journaling sprouts’ use the Aqua glue to attach. Use MONO Multi Liquid Glue and TOMBOW”s Foam Tabs to attach the embellishments. For the canvas, ribbon and corrugated pieces that will lay flat use the Multi glue. For any lettering or embellishments that you want to ‘pop’, use the Foam Tabs. The Foam Tabs come in two sizes; large 1/2” and small 1/4”, use the size that works best for your chosen piece.

The ribbon is tied to the spine piece before assembling the album.

The matching pages for the album are constructed using TOMBOW’s new Dot Stamp Runner. Apply the adhesive in long strips to large paper panels and photographs and small ‘stamped’ squares of adhesive for the smaller embellishments with the same the same tool.

See how well the Tombow Stamp Runner, which serves a dual purpose as a stamper, hold these embellishments.

spring is here!
january, february…i have the winter blues for sure.

but bring in the end of march and the beginning of april and i am one happy girl.
love to be outside, love the sunshine, love the baseball (upcoming project on that one soon), and spring cleaning.

so, that got me thinking about all the pictures i have of my home. clean, messy, decorated, etc.

i wanted a place to put all those pictures without doing a full album. (i have so many other pictures i want to work with, pictures of the home are low on the priority list.) but still, a place to put them, get them out of the stack…

i found doodlebug’s “hometown collection” and fell in love. the bright spring colors and whimsical die cut embellishments were exactly what i wanted to go with my plethora of pictures of my home.

i had a clipboard shaped as a house and an empty 4×6 photo album (this one was from Franklin Covey years ago).

i made the clipboard first, then decided that a place for all those “home” pictures was in order…

and here is what i came up with.

i used Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue to put the paper to the wood clipboard. the die cut “love our home” was put on with Tombow Foam Tabs, and all edges of the paper and embellishments were inked with a combination of a brown ink pad and a Tombow Dual Brush Pen – they are perfect for getting in the little creases of the die cuts.

in the photo album i created the first two pages. on these pages i used the Tombow Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive to put the 4×6 pages together and did a little sewing, using the Stamper to add a “bandaid” to the back holding the loose threads in place.

is it cliche to say that i love my family…. and they are who i love creating for?

well, it is true. i love the anticipation of creating something and hoping that they are going to love it. i love taking the time to create handmade projects. i love putting myself into something for someone else.
here are some i’ve posted on the blog – christmas ornament, christmas traditions scrapbook, recipe scrapbook, and the framed daddy decor.

i love the line from the chorus of “you spin me round” – right round baby right round, like a record baby, right round, round round!

that is how i feel about my family, they spin me… spin my world…and mostly in good ways. (we all have our moments!)

when i take pictures i start to scrapbook them in my head. i contemplate color schemes and whether i’ll use them on a layout or altered piece or create a mini book to show them off.  last fall we visited the pumpkin patch. i was so anxious to scrapbook with my pictures that i created a circle album. i couldn’t wait til all the pictures were printed so i grabbed a few pictures and kept it simple.

these three people are the most important things in my life.

let’s keep on spinning!

gather your adhesive. and to answer your question, yes, i used each of these. i’ll explain…

gather anyhing you think you might want to use. my theme was “you spin me” so i gathered any tools or embellishments that were circular.

here is the title page.

circles cut with the creative memories circle cutting system. lettering is hand cut from an old EK Success lettering template. each letter is also “inked” by using a Tombow Dual Brush Pen N15 (black). the brush tip is great for getting in the little corners of the small letters.

i cut large circles from several pieces of paper, cardstock and patterns and glued them back-to-back with the Tombow MONO Multi Glue. it adds stability to the pages.

i used the Tombow MONO Glue Pen to attach the letters and small embellishments. and Tombow MONO Permanent runner to add the paper embellishments and Tombow MONO Adhesive Dots Roller to glue down the pictures.  my reason for this would be because i am indecisive and i like the ability to move my pictures around til i get it just right.

this page is glued to the back of the title page – pattern paper to cardstock. it holds up really well, and the glue doesn’t get the papers too wet, therefore – no warping!

my son’s page – name, pictures and a few embellishments
here is my daughter’s side – again, name, pictures and embellishments

on this page i wanted to use the conchos, but because that pages are back-to-back i didn’t want to set them all the way through. (that would be a little unsightly on the back). so i cut off the prongs that wouldn’t be going though paper (much like i did here with the back of a brad) and used the glue pen to hold them in place. the conchos go through the green paper strip, but the other sides have a bit of glue under them to keep them from sliding.

here i am using the glue pen on the letters. so easy and fast. and because the formula in the glue pen does not adhere to your skin, when picking up little letters to put them on your project they will not stick to you! the glue flows pretty easily, just push the roller ball in by putting the tip on your project and applying pressure. when the glue starts to flow trace around your letter (embellishment).

how about a button? yup, the glue pen works on that too!

while we are talking about love…

my love for tombow was sealed with the introduction of the glue pen. don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that i didn’t love the other adhesives before, but the glue pen just sent my heart a-flutter! so many uses. so many projects. so versatile!

however, we all know that i really do love the adhesive dots too,  so much that i carry them around with me.

can a girl love two adhesives at the same time? leave a comment today and later this week Joanna will pick winners to receive a fun package of everything the design team loves!

with this huge snow storm coming it sounds like a lot of you might be snowed in this weekend so we thought we’d post a fun Tot project to keep the kiddies creative instead of stuck inside with cabin fever! this one’s a fun project…for rainy day, sleepover, when the kids see you scrapbooking and want to also, or even a birthday present.

with young children it is easy to please them with stickers! for birthday presents i’ll quickly make one of these books, personalize the front cover, and give it to the birthday boy or girl with stickers to put inside. (however, according to my 4 year old, when trying to decide what to get her friend for her birthday told me…

“mom, that’s not a real present. you don’t get that at the store!”

no way baby, it is hand-made and shows a touch of thoughtfulness – way better than a “real gift”!

start off with a 12×12 piece of paper, since i make these often i have made a master template for the kids to trace but it’s just notched out in the middle on the bottom in whatever size you’d like your folded pockets.

simple enough, right?

then I let the kids score where the bottom edge will be, my finished books are 6×6 so the score line right in the middle and easy to remember.

use a little MONO AQUA Liquid Glue for now mess in securing your pockets down.

a hole punch on top and bottom binding.

slip some paper inside with matching holes and run some ribbon through it.

make it personalized with letter stickers,
the finished result can be as embellished or decorated as you choose.

stay warm, stay safe and stay creative.

growing up my family had many christmas traditions. some i have tried to bring to my new family, and of course some had to go.
but several years ago i made my parents a book of all the christmas traditions we had that i remembered. i involved my 7 siblings and got their input as well.

the whole album was very simple to put together, as i followed a simple formula. it was an 8×8 album, I pre-made the pages, so i did not have to re-create each one.

it is one of my favorite ways to create a mini-album. gather all the supplies you think you might need and then decide on a layout idea that can be used throughout. gather your pictures, mine were mostly from one christmas i spent at home after i was married and moved away, so i had wanted to take pictures of the decorations and random items that i would want to remember from my childhood. with my pages already created I laid out the pictures accordingly, including lots of journaling.

one day i hope to make a book for my “new” family with the traditions that we have created. it will be a great way to include pictures from several christmases in one place, or allow the opportunity to spend time taking those close up pictures of decorations and writing down the things that your family and friends do to make the holiday special.

here is a sample of mine (thank you to my mother for taking the pictures for me!)

p.s. even back in 2004 when i made this album, i was using tombow… the original, Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Runner. who knew that a few years later i would get the opportunity to work with them!

in my short lifetime I have held over 18 jobs…not counting daughter, sister, wife and mother. i have been working since i was 11 years old, when my first job was a “page” in the public library. since then i have been a babysitter/nanny, telephone operator, sandwich maker, a retailer of clothes, books, vidoes and scrapbook supplies, and a teacher to children and adults. quite a variety.

when i first got this “suitcase” mini-album from clear scraps i immediately knew that the subject i wanted for the book had to be something other than travel. trying to think of other ideas i used my best sounding boards….and with their help we came up with an album about all my jobs.

over the last year the companies we have teamed up with have been incredibly generous with what they have sent. i was able to go back through my stash and pull out papers and embellishments that pulled this album together…..basic grey, graphic 45, maya road, cosmo cricket, and hambly screen prints

the best thing about this album is that i am using random pictures that i’ve been holding onto for years. none of my jobs have been documented with pictures, not even my scrapbooking jobs. so a random picture here or there, or a company logo is all i have taken with me. this book will be a place to write the memories and experiences i had while at those jobs. could be a good laugh years from now.

while working with this clear album i have come up with some tips to keep in mind, because there are challenges as well as rewards to working with clear.

1.       definitely use Tombow MONO Vellum Adhesive. the most you’ll see is a shimmer…but it really is invisible.

2.       apply the adhesive to the picture, paper or embellishment instead of the clear pages. easier to apply…and go slow, the more even the coverage, the less “goobers” will occur.

3.       take care when placing your pictures and paper…once it is down, it is down!

4.       Tombow MONO Glue Pen will adhere embellishments to the clear acrylic

5.       take advantage of layers

6.       clear album pages are a double sided paper’s best friend…you get to show off both sides! no choosing or leaving one side out!

how about something cute and portable to keep your holiday shopping organized…

this project has stumped me more than any other project…and I can name several others that got me!

my assignment was “shop til you drop”. so my first thought was…layout? but how many of us take cameras with us shopping and how many more of us remember to take that camera out and get a picture of the action?

well, perhaps if it was a girls day out, or a shopping adventure with your daughter who actually *WANTS* to shop with you now…then I can see the camera’s coming out. but, since this is posting the day after Thanksgiving, on Black Friday, when people are attempting for the best bargain possible and hoping to jump start the Christmas spirit by getting as many gifts as they can in one day, well then perhaps the camera is long forgotten at home or in your bag.

so, my next thought was to make something FUNCTIONAL to take with you while shopping and dropping. a few years ago i did a class using pockets…”Pockets, Flaps and Things that Move” was the title of this class. we made an accordion book, and on each panel was a different functional addition. i decided that i would attempt to re-fashion this accordion book as a way of creating a plan of attack when shopping for those sought after items. use the pockets to slide in clippings from ads, or make your own notes, cards or tags to add in there.

now, my next issue was… “let’s make this functional, but not spill all the secrets when prying eyes come back to look at your creation.” so, perhaps this can become more of  a wish list, especially for those little ones many requests.

i used Tombow MONO Multi for the paper-to-paper adhesion, to keep it durable while putting it in my bag.  to make the pockets i really like using Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Adhesive. (don’t use the Tombow MONO Multi for pockets because it is meant to dry tacky, so if any of the glue leaks out from under the edge of the pocket, the items you slide inside will not slide well because of the sticky factor). the Glue Pen will also work for the pockets, if you work quickly. I used the Very Merry line from October Afternoon, Jillibean Soup letter stickers and journaling sprouts, and a corner rounder. in addition, don’t forget to keep a good writing pen with the organizer. using ribbon attached to the project, tie on a Dual Brush Pen, then it will always be at your fingertips when taking notes or crossing things off. write the name of each store you need to visit on the tabs OR write the name of the people you are shopping for (i’ve done both in my pictures) and then list the purchases you need to make.

either way you look at it, using an organizer that is cute and functional will make your shopping a little more manageable…or at least i hope it does!

Tombow’s Dual Brush Pens and Cosmo Cricket’s ‘The Boyfriend’ collection team up to make this six page, 5” x 5” mini accordion album. I was inspired by the paper to feature Katelyn and boyfriend Curtis in this fun and funky gift scrapbook.

Inside; Tombow Dual Brush Pens not only added the journaling and heart accents, but also colored the photographs to match the papers and embellishments.
Dual Brush Pens that match the Boyfriend collection:
312 Holly Green
126 Light Olive
N57 Warm Gray
993 Chrome Orange
847 Crimson
946 Gold Ochre
N25 Lamp Black

The photos are printed on matte photograph paper and the clothes colored with the pens. It the photographs now match the paper and give the photo a funky element that also works well with the collection. Hold everything together with Tombow MONO Mega Adhesive DOTS.
The journaling pages are accented with hearts – made by simply pressing the brush point onto the paper and making a teardrop shape. Add another teardrop shape right beside to create the heart. Make sure the paper is upside down when making the hearts.
