Paper Posie and Tombow Team-Up!
Paper Posies is a monthly scrapbooking kit club dedicated to bringing theirmembers the hottest and newest scrapbook products on the market. The kits are chock-full of patterned papers, specialty papers, cardstock, always two alphabets, ribbons/trims, tons of embellishments, and an alterable project (and this month, some added Tombow gifts!). Their Design Team gallery is ALWAYS full of inspiration and ideas on ways to use the product in the kits. They have challenges (and PRIZES!) going on ALL month long to keep creativity readily flowing. Add to that a fun and friendly message board with a live, online chat every Friday at 11am PST and a regularly updated blog and you can see exactly why we are so excited to partner with them this month!! This week we’ll be featuring projects from our DT using the Paper Posie’s July kit. Of course we’ll be doing our amazing giveaway at the end of the week so don’t be shy, you won’t want to miss out!
Old Fashioned Picnic Invitation
The Paper Posie package arrived and I was immediately motivated by the sizable assortment of paper and superfluities – a beautiful collection of soft, romantic colors that quickly inspired a vintage project. With Independence Day coming up I thought an old fashioned picnic was called for, complete with a fun invitation.
The invitation includes a pocket in the front, held down firmly with MONO Adhesive Permanent. Place the i
nvitation, chipboard tickets or even a menu into the pocket.
The ruffled ribbon accent is super easy to make. Lay down the MONO Adhesive Power Bond and a very thin line of Mono Multi Liquid Glue onto your project. Take a length of ribbon (I usually work right off the roll), and pleat it down the adhesive in a back and forth fashion. Don’t worry about being perfect, the irregularities in the size and direction of the pleats are what make this embellishment so endearing. The adhesive holds the pleats in place as you work and the Multi Glue holds it forever, especially when working with wider ribbons.
The chipboard tickets were colored with the Dual Brush Pens, with the easiest and fastest way ever to finish ‘raw’ chipboard! I used #723 pink and #126 light olive to match the Paper Posie package. Scribble the colors onto a piece of plastic and spritz with water. Place the chipboard down into the color and lift. Repeat until it is covered with color. To give the antique edge, and while still wet, run a #977 saddle brown Brush tip around the edge. The brown will blend as the chipboard dries.
I finished the pieces by stamping details with brown ink.
The Paper Posie package was not even dented – so I created a page ready to add favorite photos and journaling after the picnic! I would most likely antique the photos before printing to match the theme of the page. I mirrored the pocket from the invitation and kept the design simple with a quad panel showing off the pretty papers. This would also make a fun gift for an honored guest at your picnic.

I’ve been having the kids make Father’s Day gifts this week and there is no catch and release on this one!. Using a little Tombow, Basic Grey and adding in a splash of candy made this activity a keeper. The kids didn’t exactly want to give it up to Daddy… or Grandpa! So we had to make mini versions for them too! (This would also be a really fun camping activity.)
Daddy’s Fishing Rod:
4 Mentos Candy packages (any flavor) – for rod
1 Breath Savers package (silver case) – for reel
1 Swedish Fish candy package (snack size) – for fish
Tombow MONO POWER BOND Adhesive
String/Ribbon
Fishing Hook, wire or paper clip
Basic Grey Max & Whiskers Cardstock Patterned Paper (over rod and over reel)
*make sure you overlap the cardstock by 2-3 inches and roll the Mentos with the Power Bond otherwise it won’t hold it’s rod shape.
Kid’s Fishing Rods:
Laffy Taffy (long, thin .81 0z rope size) – for rod
York (miniatures) Peppermint Patty – for reel
String
Round Metal Rimmed Tag (hole punched to make reel detail)
Tombow MONO POWER BOND Adhesive
Basic Grey Max & Whiskers Cardstock Patterned Paper
Paper Clip

My boys surprised me with how well they did this project. Pinwheels are so cute, and look so terrific with this Basic Grey paper!! They’re simple to make and come together really fast.
- Cut a 12×12 sheet of paper into 4-6 inch squares…double sided paper looks the best!
- Fold each corner to corner, diagonally, creating an X on the square.
- Cut along each fold, stopping about a half inch from the center.
- Punch a small hole on the left bottom corner of each side.
- Cut a 12″ by .5″ strip of paper, run a line of Tombow Mono Adhesive Permanent Dots along it.
- Wrap around a pencil, pulling tightly.
- Pull the holes on the bottom up to the center of the square, and secure with a brad.
- Dip the brad ends in Tombow Mono Aqua Glue, push into the pencil eraser.
Note:
Most paper pinwheels spin, but these ones do not. I thought the matching brads were way too cute to not use, and so did my boys! If you want yours to spin just use a thumb tack instead of a brad, and don’t dip it in glue prior to pushing it into the eraser.

Don’t you love it when one good idea spurs on another? and then another? and then another? That’s what THIS set by Print Your Party did for me. I made up the invites (in about 10 mins!) added a few pearls and rhinestones (because you can’t have a girly-girl party without tu-tu’s, pearls and rhinestones) held tight with my Tombow MONO MULTI Liquid Glue. Then that creative endeavor set off a birthday banner project to match! Check out this awesome Webinar over at UnKit. They love Tombow (and said the nicest things about me!). Seriously,My projects this week couldn’t have been easier or funner! Aren’t you loving all the classy creative juices pouring out from the girls over at Print Your Party? Not only that, it’s fun to see that the cool

kids use Tombow too! This set is my favorite. I printed it out, cut it with my scallop trimmer, added a little bling and still had enough energy left to make up some fun extras! Since it’s a kids party I decided to use the water bottle labels and put them on juice boxes and since that was sooo easy I made up the party favors too! Just a box of crayons with the drink labels wrapped around but, I love the added touch! Seriously, 12 sets for invites, drinks and favors…. time? less than 15 mins… not joking. It’s official the secret is out and I’ve decided that the girls over at Print Your Party must be the craft fairy themselves! No one else could have made something so cute, so fun, so crafty and still made it so affordable and sooo simple! Oh, and they’re making your wishes come true! A $25 gift card to one of you! To qualify just leave a comment on any of this weeks print your party posts here on Tombow and we’ll announce the winner tomorrow! Have a creative weekend!
This was another one of those “Shh… don’t tell the craft fairy” items from Print Your Party. One’s I’ll definitely be using for my big party but they’d make adorable teacher gifts too so I might be making more of them very soon! The thing about these simple little cones is that there is a secret to them. KIDS LOVE THEM! They love the shape, the handle and of course the treats inside. So of course they’ll be hanging on to them for dear life. Protecting them from other tiny hands. Which means one thing. They’re cute but they have to be durable! Tombow MONO POWER BOND TO THE RESCUE, BABY! Seriously, I don’t know how they’d stay this cute throughout the entire event otherwise. Just print out your design, cut it, Power Bond it, and add a little ribbon. SOOO SIMPLE… SOOOO CUTE! I’ll definitely have to order a few of these for our next party! Be sure to comment below for a chance to win an awesome Tombow Print Your Party Prize pack!! Check out more of their designs HERE!
Feeling like you want something super craft for your next get together but not really able to the inspiration on demand? Yeah, I feel like that a lot. That’s how I discovered Print Your Party. Seriously, they make it so that all I have to have is a printer and my Tombow stash to pull of the most amazing event ever! Later this week the wonderful sisters from Print Your Party are sponsoring a special giveaway just for Tombow fans that you will not want to miss out on so be sure to comment! Check out their BLOG HERE and FACEBOOK too for a ton of hostess-with-the-mostess inspiration. Today’s project is so super simple I feel almost bad for posting it but…. then I look at how stinking adorable it is and well… then I’m just proud at myself. It’s almost like we’ve out-witted the craft fairy or something! These napkin/menu cards took less than 10 mins to make up a dozen of these! I love the colors, I love the simplicity. Every fall I through a HUGE dinner party and you can bet on the fact that I’ll be using this idea for all 50+ place settings. The best part? It’ll only use up one roll of my MONO Adhesive DOTS and about a half hour of my time! So cute Andrea and Katie! Thanks for the inspiration.
Today’s tot project might have been my kids all time favorite. I’m pretty sure it’s because it combined both craft time and food! These little Picnic baskets are inspired by the standard plaid ones you used to get at Mom and Pop diners across the country. Ours are just as simple but thanks to Cosmo Cricket, they make our picnics much, much cuter!
Scissors
Cosmos Cricket (double sided) card stock paper (cut 6×12)

2. Apply contact paper on one side (this will be the inside that the food touches). Cut slits and Trim edges.
3. Fold and Crease towards center. Apply Tombow MONO Power Bond Adhesive to the two short edges and fold upwards, attaching to the long edges. Press firmly to set (about 5 seconds).
4.Repeat to get as many baskets as needed! Easy as pie!
The kids made food labels out of scraps and loved every minute of their special picnic. I’ll definitely be using this one again for birthday parties and other events. It was super easy and super cute!

We’re spending this next week getting to know our team a little more. Today I want to share with you a little bit about me, my creative process and what makes me click. First, there are a few things that EVERYONE knows about me. Like my favorite color is purple, although everything in my house is RED so that’s a close second. The perfect night to me would be Chinese take-out, Michael Buble’ on my ipod and creating in my Office, oh and a box of Samoa Girl Scout cookies. (I have a major sweet tooth!). You all know I have kids but, something you might not know about me is that my oldest has Autism. He’s 7.
April is actually National Autism Awareness month and so I thought I’d share with you my all time favorite special needs projects. I gave these during Teacher Appreciation week although, if you have a child with special needs you know that the Teachers might need a little pick-me up, just because, at any point in the year. The concept is based on the poem Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley. It’s about realizing that you are in a different place (like Holland) as a special needs parent then you thought you’d be… and coming to appreciate the differences (like Tulips!).
For the teacher gifts I printed off a copy of the poem for each of them and ordered them all tulip earrings off of Etsy (I love that site!). I used Tombow DOTS Adhesive Runner to make red pillow boxes for each and tied them with green ribbon. For the Therapists, Para-Pro’s and Co-ordinator’s (it really does take a village to raise special needs kids) I baked up a BUNCH of Tulip cookies. These green pencils were perfect and I tied them in with the cookies with cello, added some ribbon and a quick tag and delivered them to the amazing staff at his school. The teachers loved them and I was able to really express my heartfelt gratitude for all the hard work and encouragement that they all put into my very special son and his education. We’ve been lucky to have them in our lives. If you have a special needs family in your life, this would be a great springtime hug for them!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays, and I’m not ashamed to admit it’s partly because of the candy involved. Mid-March is when my favorite Mini Cadbury eggs are “in bloom”, and the pastel M&M’s (which I swear taste better than the regular ones) are found on the shelf. My boys are already planning for an Easter Egg hunt with their friends, so I decided to make a little treat pocket to send with a little invitation card tucked inside. I’ll show you the pocket here today.
(click on the image below to see slideshow full size)
1. To make the tag, I used my Tombow dual brush pen in black, and ran it over this super cute clear acrylic stamp from Imaginisce. Then after stamping on a blank white tag, I used a butterfly rub-on to give the tag a little color. Trim the tag to the size you want.
2. Cut a piece of your favorite 8.5×11 cardstock in half lengthwise. Fold it to the size you want, using a bone folder to give a crisp line.
3. Fold the top down so it overlaps the bottom by at least a half inch.
4. Using a craft knife cut any shape window in the front panel of the pocket. I used a rectangular wooden stamp as my template. Decorate the pocket with stamps or rub-ons.
5. Cut your bag to size. I used regular plastic treat bags from the craft store, and cut about four inches off the top.
6. Run several strips of Tombow Permanant Dots on the inside back of the pocket. This helps the bag to stay in place once it’s full of treats.
7. Fill your bag, put it in place. Fold the top of the pocket over the bottom and then punch two holes about an inch apart, making sure you get through all three layers.
8. Thread a piece of half in ribbon through from the back. Thread the tag over the ribbon, then tie it in a tight bow.
9. Hide these from your children and husband so they can make it until Easter.
Happy Candy Eating!
