Today’s daily does of inspiration is from Marie. She created these great vellum containers for CHA this year

The chickadee image on this is a peel-off from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Using tweezers, place the peel-off onto the white cardstock. Use the indirect blending technique and apply the Tombow colors to a piece of plastic and then pick up the color with the blending pen and color the images.

Cut the image out.

Marie used My Mind’s Eye ‘Bloom & Grow’ paper kit for the patterned paper accents.

The container is a 4” x 7” piece of vellum made into a cylinder. The bottom is pinched and covered with the paper ovals and the top is pinched at 90º to form the container. Use Tombow Vellum Adhesive to adhere everything together! A small paper clip holds it closed after filled with colorful treats!

At CHA this week Tombow released a new line of Dual Brush Pens! In the past, our Dual Brush Pens have always set the gold standard for professional art markers. And now they’re even better; they have a new look for the craft market. We have created SIX new and exciting color assortments both in our 6 and 10 pack sets. Not only that, but we’ve also lowered the price on them! That’s a combination that can’t be beat.

Tombow Dual Brush Pens are available in 96 colors, and they feature, as you might have guessed; two tips. The one end is the flexible nylon fiber ‘brush’ tip which works like a paint brush; ideal for coloring directly on rubber stamps, creating subtle washes and shading while the blender pen is used to soften and blend colors, creating a watercolor effect. The other end hosts a ‘fine’ tip which is great for drawing borders, writing and coloring tight drawings. The ink is water based and thus is non-toxic, acid free, and odorless. Be sure to check out our new look and color combinations at your local stores. If they don’t have it, ask for us by name!

Marie Browning is at CHA this week doing an adorable make and take project.

Check out her video on facebook – HERE! Make and Take

The trick to making the colors blend like watercolors is The Blender Pen! First to use the brush side of any coloron any piece of plastic (an old cd, or other non-porous surface) Then using your blender pen you can pick up your chosen ink color to pull the colors into your stamped image. Start shading where you want the color to be the most intense then gradually work in tiny circle to lighter shades. Work in small area at a time and don’t over blend. It’s super easy and the effect is BEAUTIFUL! The Blender Pen comes with any of our 10 piece sets and our 96 color set. Try this technique on your next card or layout. We’d love to see what you come up with! Because it’s CHA, and because we’re excited about this awesome technique, post your project using this technique here or on our Facebook profile before Thursday at midnight and on Friday we’ll choose 1 lucky artist to win a set of 10 dual brush markers from our new line!
