Tombow Tots – Flower Hair Clips
Spring Break at our house is in full swing and of course I have tons of projects to keep my munchkins busy. Thankfully, a few friends joined in the fun which always surprisingly makes it easier to teach the kids. Earth Day is Thursday so we had to pull something inspired by nature and since it was all about the girls today the only nature inspired thing they were willing to come up with was flowers! Easy enough, what girl doesn’t love flowers?!
Supplies;
Felt Scraps
Small Buttons
Needle and Thread
Hair Clips
MONO AQUA Liquid Glue
1. Have the kids cut out two small (about 1-1 1/2 inch) circles out of coordinating felt. It doesn’t have to be perfect, nor do they have to match up. translation? perfect for little hands!
2. (grown-ups) cut felt in a spiral pattern starting on the outside and working inward until you have a circle about the size of your button. I like to cut the two out together so the spirals match somewhat.
3. The kids can add a few dabs of MONO AQUA liquid Glue to attach the two layers and roll the strips of felt around the center moving outward and keeping the ends up a bit. Add Glue to the ends. It helps for the kids to see it actually done in person first but, once they get a visual, they catch on quick!
4. Add button and let dry (about 15 mins. although for the kids it felt like an eternity… so we just made more!)
5. Attach with a needle and thread (for durability) to a favorite headband or hair clip. Let dry completely and enjoy!
Feeling like you want something super craft for your next get together but not really able to the inspiration on demand? Yeah, I feel like that a lot. That’s how I discovered Print Your Party. Seriously, they make it so that all I have to have is a printer and my Tombow stash to pull of the most amazing event ever! Later this week the wonderful sisters from Print Your Party are sponsoring a special giveaway just for Tombow fans that you will not want to miss out on so be sure to comment! Check out their BLOG HERE and FACEBOOK too for a ton of hostess-with-the-mostess inspiration. Today’s project is so super simple I feel almost bad for posting it but…. then I look at how stinking adorable it is and well… then I’m just proud at myself. It’s almost like we’ve out-witted the craft fairy or something! These napkin/menu cards took less than 10 mins to make up a dozen of these! I love the colors, I love the simplicity. Every fall I through a HUGE dinner party and you can bet on the fact that I’ll be using this idea for all 50+ place settings. The best part? It’ll only use up one roll of my MONO Adhesive DOTS and about a half hour of my time! So cute Andrea and Katie! Thanks for the inspiration.
i had seen an idea to use a picture frame as a message board over a year ago and i just had to made some… i went through my scraps, bought some frames and was totally uninspired. fast forward to last week. i opened a box that had the lovely early bird collection from Cosmo Cricket and i knew just how to use it! i’ll definitely be making more of these, what a fun gift. it came together quickly too. just a paper trimmer and Tombow MONO MULTI liquid adhesive is all it took to wrap the paper around the chipboard that is included with the frame. a few Cosmo Cricket chipboard stickers, a quick title and i was done. seriously, fifteen minutes from start to finish! i’m off to get a jumpstart on this fun gift for a few special people in my life. thanks Cosmo Cricket, for some much needed inspiration.
Today’s tot project might have been my kids all time favorite. I’m pretty sure it’s because it combined both craft time and food! These little Picnic baskets are inspired by the standard plaid ones you used to get at Mom and Pop diners across the country. Ours are just as simple but thanks to Cosmo Cricket, they make our picnics much, much cuter!
Scissors
Cosmos Cricket (double sided) card stock paper (cut 6×12)
Clear Contact Paper

Tombow MONO POWER BOND Adhesive Roller
1. Download, Size and Print Pattern. I sized mine out to be 6″ wide for kids portions, and I was able to get two baskets per 12″x12″ paper. Trace pattern onto desired decorative paper and cut out.
2. Apply contact paper on one side (this will be the inside that the food touches). Cut slits and Trim edges.
3. Fold and Crease towards center. Apply Tombow MONO Power Bond Adhesive to the two short edges and fold upwards, attaching to the long edges. Press firmly to set (about 5 seconds).
4.Repeat to get as many baskets as needed! Easy as pie!
The kids made food labels out of scraps and loved every minute of their special picnic. I’ll definitely be using this one again for birthday parties and other events. It was super easy and super cute!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, and I’m not ashamed to admit it’s partly because of the candy involved. Mid-March is when my favorite Mini Cadbury eggs are “in bloom”, and the pastel M&M’s (which I swear taste better than the regular ones) are found on the shelf. My boys are already planning for an Easter Egg hunt with their friends, so I decided to make a little treat pocket to send with a little invitation card tucked inside. I’ll show you the pocket here today.

1. To make the tag, I used my Tombow dual brush pen in black, and ran it over this super cute clear acrylic stamp from Imaginisce. Then after stamping on a blank white tag, I used a butterfly rub-on to give the tag a little color. Trim the tag to the size you want.
2. Cut a piece of your favorite 8.5×11 cardstock in half lengthwise. Fold it to the size you want, using a bone folder to give a crisp line.
3. Fold the top down so it overlaps the bottom by at least a half inch.
4. Using a craft knife cut any shape window in the front panel of the pocket. I used a rectangular wooden stamp as my template. Decorate the pocket with stamps or rub-ons.
5. Cut your bag to size. I used regular plastic treat bags from the craft store, and cut about four inches off the top.
6. Run several strips of Tombow Permanant Dots on the inside back of the pocket. This helps the bag to stay in place once it’s full of treats.
7. Fill your bag, put it in place. Fold the top of the pocket over the bottom and then punch two holes about an inch apart, making sure you get through all three layers.
8. Thread a piece of half in ribbon through from the back. Thread the tag over the ribbon, then tie it in a tight bow.
9. Hide these from your children and husband so they can make it until Easter.
Happy Candy Eating!
Marie made these fun bookmarks using Tombow Dual Brush Pens, Tombow Adhesive Dots, Imaginisce’s Scooter’s Vacation Line and … SALT?! Yeah, her creativity is more than amazing! The kids will love adding the unexpected! She was kind enough to break it down so that the rest of us can teach our kids this awesome technique…

Somehow in the last 9+ years of parenting I’ve left myself out of the Easter Basket equation. This year I vowed to change that. After all, Easter candy is really my FAVORITE candy of the year, and why should the kids get all the fun? So I made myself an Easter basket yesterday, and I’m quite happy because I can pretty much guarantee that the Easter Bunny is going to leave me EXACTLY what I love!
I used the Lucy Bird line from Imaginisce…I have all boys so I don’t pull out birds and girly flowers very often, but let me say that I was SO excited this week to have a reason to scrap in pink!! This line is so cute and whimsical, and the coordinating stickers, flowers, and chipboard are adorable.
After I had the basket finished, I decided I needed some cute flowers coming out of it. So be sure to keep reading, I included a tutorial at the end to show just how easy it is to make these. I only made a few since I needed to leave some room for the candy, but these are so cute in a glass vase with LOTS of them in a variety of lengths.
This is now one of my favorite techniques with the Dual Brush Pens. Try it… LOVE it!
Next week! St. Patrick’s Day is next week! I’m not Irish but, I I’m the kinda girl that just looks for any reason to celebrate. So bring it on St. Patty! (Not only that, but my kids seem to be thrilled with any excuse to decorate and have some out-of-the-ordinary fun.) So we made up this simple and WAY cute (if I do say so myself) garland using my green scraps, some black plaid ribbon, a sewing machine and my Tombow MONO permanent Adhesive runner. To make this… Continue Reading
We’ve been using our Dual Brush Pens a lot this week and I’ve gotten a few emails asking questions about them so today is all about clarity. In each of the new Craft Collection ten pack sets there is a BLENDER PEN. It has no color to it. It’s a moist-pen. It has the Dual Brushes just like all the others but NO color. It’s used to blend colors together or fade colors out like true watercolors without watercolor paper. While you’re working with it, you’ll notice it changes color because it picks up the ink from other colors. You can ‘pick up‘ colors directly from your page or by coloring on a non-porous material like plastic and using the Blender Pen to pick up the color. If there is too much color on your blender pen, just grab a scratch piece of paper and scribble it away. It will clean itself and go back to being clear (even if the tip looks tiny bit pink or green or whatever). I keep a scrap pad on my desk for notes and just use a couple brush strokes to clean off my blender pen in between each color. I hope this helps. Please go play with this product, I promise that once you start using it you will love it!
Oh and a heads up for next week- We will be introducing our FULL DESIGN TEAM! So be sure to check in on the fun here at the blog, on Facebook and Twitter! We’d love your feedback. Have a good weekend!
