words to live by…. by sarah little
i love quotes. they are inspirational, motivational little tid bits to get you through the day. maybe to be reflective, maybe to make you laugh, but always something you need to hear.
i wanted something front and center that i would see everyday, so i made a little frame to set by the mirror. i used some of my favorite paper and stickers from October Afternoon’s Seaside collection, as well as a 6×6 frame, a metal clip and Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Adhesive and Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Roller.
I cut the background paper to 6×6 and then layered paper and stickers using the Permanent Adhesive Roller.
Then I slid it back into the frame, under the glass and used the Multi to secure a clip to the front, on top of the glass. It will take a while to set, but by golly it sticks!
So when it comes to adding a quote, you can use a permanent or dry erase marker directly on the glass…
or use the clip to hold a quote torn from a magazine or printed from the computer.
Just a little pick me up each morning…and appropriately, the first quote that i want to clip up is:
Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the Devil says “Oh crap, she’s up.” (apologies for lack of credit, as i do not know who originally said it…)
i’m trying to be that woman!

back to school
i am determined to keep myself and my kids organized with the start of this new school year. they are getting older and can be responsible for a few more things…but it isn’t a bad idea to give them reminders. i was searching for ideas and found this idea on the Family Fun website. I am making a place-mat with a checklist included, so as they eat breakfast in the morning they can look it over and remember the things they need to do getting ready for school. because it is laminated it is easy to use write and wipe erasers or permanent markers with dry erase board cleaner to get it ready for the next morning
you’ll need pattern paper and poster board or chipboard. since i made this the night before the first day of school i used chipboard. i had 2 pieces of pattern paper. i left one a full 12×12 and cut up the 2nd and 3rd pieces of pattern paper so it was 6 1/4 x 12. i laid the two pieces of 12×12 chipboard side by side and adhered the smaller pieces of paper to the outside edges, using Tombow MONO Multi Aqua Liquid glue. then i covered the center with more MONO Multi Aqua Liquid glue and then covered the “seam” between the two pieces of chipboard with the full 12×12 pattern paper. i also used 1″ strips of paper down the side of the full 12×12 piece. i printed the morning check list on card stock and glued it to the left side of the mat. then i printed a “today you are…” checklist and adhered it to the right side of the mat. both items i used Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive .
so whether your children have gone back to school this week or they have another month of summer (lucky!) we hope you have a very
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! ~sarah~

okay so i have this OBSESSION with craft blogs. one links to another and before i know it my brain is flooded with ideas! i followed one link earlier this summer to a piece of art that was for sale (somewhere in the UK cause the price was in pounds???), but it was a butterfly, entirely made of buttons. we’ll the wheels were turning and i had an idea! i have buttons! i have glue! and i have an empty canvas!
i’ve been slowly decorating my daughters room. somehow we’ve managed a simply flower motif throughout…do you remember these chipboard -clipboards i made?
well we have also found wood flower hooks to hold hats or bags. so i took one of those, traced it on my empty canvas and painted around it. i wanted some definition to the flower outline. then i started filling it in with buttons! a squeeze of Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue, some buttons, more Aqua, more buttons, and so on! i had to do a little shifting around and use some smaller filler buttons…good thing the Aqua dries strong but not too quickly. it allowed me time so get the buttons where i wanted them. and good news! it dries CLEAR! so i didn’t have to worry about where the glue ended up.
i love creating! i love making something new! i love that Tombow enables me work out my creative finds!

Here is one of my favorite projects that I made for a sweet friend of mine. I always intened to make me one, but haven’t yet and need to. Ü
This project uses 4″ x 4″ coasters and I covered them with patterned paper using Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Permanent.

All of the coaster pieces are then connected together with jump rings and this easily sits on a shelf or table.
I hope this fun project inspired you to create something lovely for your home or for a gift for someone.

…is the tub is finally installed and I can start to see the completion of our new bathroom. Have been renovating for weeks, suffering through clouds of drywall dust, bathtub in the living room, workers in and out of the house all day and boxes everywhere!
We still have more to do with our ‘West coast Spa’ themed room, but have started to play with some favorite things I have been collecting. These candleholders are beach rocks with holes drilled in for votive candles (nice soy based aromatherapy votives) and a recycled glass starfish from a local artisan. I was worried about the starfish falling onto the tiled floor, but a few Tombow POWER TABS insures it will stay put!

i have followed teresa collins for sometime…and i am completely impressed with the path she has carved for herself in this craft industry. to be participating in a blog hop with her and her company is a fantastic opportunity…
i loved the line “on the edge” that i received and i didn’t want to waste a piece of it, so i put together a collection of frames and shapes to decorate a boy’s room…without feeling too over-the-top or crafty.
this is the point where i’m going to need to apologize. i know you all like pictures that show the process of how something was created, but this time, there aren’t any *GASP* when i sat down with my frames and wood shapes i only knew that i wanted to create with this fun product, but i really didn’t know what i was going to make with it. little by little i pieced it together, without ever thinking about photographing all my changes and indecision.
so, what i have for you is a list of “try-it-yourself” suggestions.
1. find frames, wood shapes, letters, canvas, etc to create an eye catching wall collage (i found original inspiration for mine over the last couple of months – a blog, a photo on the scrapbook site “two peas in a bucket”, and in magazines)
2. if all of the pieces are not the same color, or the colors you want to work with then paint them with acrylic paint. turn an off-white frame into a white on. paint the edges of wood pieces for a finished look and turn a white canvas dark grey.
3. use Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Adhesive to glue paper to wood and canvas. use the broad tip and smear the adhesive over the whole shape (or where it is needed) all the way to the edges, to keep the paper from lifting.
4.to get pattern paper to fit over your desired shape, trace the shape backwards on the backside of the paper you want to use, and cut it out.
5. ink the edges of all the paper with a Dual Brush Pen or an ink pad to give your project a finished look.
6. to create a circle for brads like in the white frame, trace a circle on a scrap piece of paper. on the scrap, along the traced line poke holes where the brads will go. then hold the scrap with the poked holes over the final project. using the paper piercer or pencil, go back through the holes to make marks to follow
7. brads will go through canvas.
8. staz-on ink pads are helpful for stamping on a painted canvas surface
9. teresa collins line even impressed my 7 year old…. and he is cool with me putting it up in his room…when he’s 10
10. have fun! try new things…even if you don’t have a predictable outcome in mind.
so, my pictures for you today….before & after! be sure to visit these sites for more creative projects with Theresa Collins: http://teresacollins.typepad.com/ http://teresacollinsdesignteam.blogspot.com
I painted the wooden frame with white acrylic paint. The first smaller frame is made with adhesive backed cork. I punched the pieces of cork with an EK Success border punch and cut 45 degree angles for the corners. I used Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the cord to the frame. I laid out the cord to the design I wanted and added small strips of painters tape to hold the cord in place. I lifted small sections (about 2” at a time) of the cord placing glue underneath from the fine tip end. I added the tape pieces back as I went along to keep the cord in place after it was glued which I found out was unnecessary because the glue held the cord in place perfectly! I cut another smaller frame from thin cardboard, rounded the corners and covered it with blue fabric card stock using Tombow Permanent Adhesive Stamprunner. To adhere this frame to the wooden frame I used Tombow MONO Adhesive Power Bond Tape Runner. The buttons are attached with Tombow Power Tabs.
I cut 1 tab into quarters and only used 1 quarter for each button. Since I have been using the amazing Power Tabs for my embellishments I have retired my glue gun!! I colored the images with Tombow markers, paintbrush and water. The images are adhered to the frame with Tombow foam tabs. The flat backed pearls were adhered to the blue frame with Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue.
Enjoy,
Karen
This vintage card with a sewing theme demonstrates a few adhesive techniques for adding gold gilded accents.
I love to incorporate old ephemera into card designs, like a sheet from my Grandmamma‘s notebook of a smocking design and an old photo. Remember to color photocopy these pieces rather than using the original.
Gilding a stamped image
Step 1 - Stamp an image on your chosen paper. Here I used a paper pin image from an ephemera clip book
Step 2 - With the fine tip of the MONO Multi glue, apply the glue over the image as neatly as you can.
Step 3 - Let the glue dry completely. Place the foil sheet shiny side up over the sticky adhesive and press to gold guild the image.
Apply the background papers with the Permanent Stamp Runner. Apply the adhesive in long strips to large paper panels and small ‘stamped’ squares of adhesive for the smaller paper pieces with the same tool!
Embellishment Details The color-photocopied photo was colored with the Dual Brush Pens to match the card. Only the bouquet was colored. The custom colored flowers were also colored with the Dual Brush Pens. Trim along the left side of the card was attached with the MONO Multi liquid glue. The flowers and buttons were applied with both Power Tabs, and where you want a little dimension, Foam Tabs.
i’ve jumped on!
been wanting to done something like this for a while, and was inspired to give it a try when i got my jillibean soup “blossom soup” papers. with the help of their canvas flowers, bean blossoms, corrugated die-cut letters, bean stalks and the blossom soup cardstock stickers. i think i was pretty successful at my first attempt.
to adhere the paper i used Tombow Adhesive Power Bond adhesive, and the letters are attached with Tombow Power Tabs. some of the tabs were too big for my letters, so i cut the tab in half with my scissors and easily tore it to add to the skinnier sections of the letters. i also used the Tombow Foam Tabs to pop-up some of the stickers. love the mini-size for small stickers.

Stamp flower twice with black pigment ink on watercolor paper and heat emboss with clear powder. Trim one complete flower and the center of the second flower.
Color images by applying marker ink to a plastic palette and transferring with a damp paintbrush. After the coloring has been completed, run a black (N15) Tombow Dual Brush Pen along the cut edges.
Stamp the flower on the white side of the fuchsia cardstock and trim.
Turn the flower over and stamp the decorative background by applying ink from the Dual Brush Pen (685) directly to the rubber stamp. Lightly “huff” on the ink, stamp the image and trim. Lay the trimmed flower fuchsia side down and use the stamped image facing up as a guide to align the water colored flower on top. Apply adhesive from the Stamp Runner and adhere the two images together. Apply Foam Tabs to the center embellishment and attach to the flower. Add dots of adhesive from the Tombow Glue Pen to the center of the flower and sprinkle with crystal glitter. Tap off excess glitter.
Attach a Power Adhesive Tab to a magnet.
