the dress
i have been using hambly with my tombow products for several years…since the invention of Tombow MONO Vellum adhesive.

there are many fun projects that can be created with their clear screen prints…clear cards, clear favor boxes, cutting up the screen prints to use as individual embellishments and using the screen print as a background for a layout, which is what i did with this project. because the layout was about a dress my mother made by hand i sewed through the screen print and the cardstock for the detailing around the scalloped edge piece and the title “dress”. i used the Vellum adhesive to hold it in place. then i cut up another screen print sheet that had several frames and used one over the focal picture and another to frame around the title. i used Vellum adhesive to put those down too.
i have several more ideas and lots of hambly product to play with, i’ll be working on a few more projects to post in the next few months. so many ideas, so little time. what about you? any hambly projects you have in the works?

Paper Posies is a monthly scrapbooking kit club dedicated to bringing theirmembers the hottest and newest scrapbook products on the market. The kits are chock-full of patterned papers, specialty papers, cardstock, always two alphabets, ribbons/trims, tons of embellishments, and an alterable project (and this month, some added Tombow gifts!). Their Design Team gallery is ALWAYS full of inspiration and ideas on ways to use the product in the kits. They have challenges (and PRIZES!) going on ALL month long to keep creativity readily flowing. Add to that a fun and friendly message board with a live, online chat every Friday at 11am PST and a regularly updated blog and you can see exactly why we are so excited to partner with them this month!! This week we’ll be featuring projects from our DT using the Paper Posie’s July kit. Of course we’ll be doing our amazing giveaway at the end of the week so don’t be shy, you won’t want to miss out!
Old Fashioned Picnic Invitation
The Paper Posie package arrived and I was immediately motivated by the sizable assortment of paper and superfluities – a beautiful collection of soft, romantic colors that quickly inspired a vintage project. With Independence Day coming up I thought an old fashioned picnic was called for, complete with a fun invitation.
The invitation includes a pocket in the front, held down firmly with MONO Adhesive Permanent. Place the i
nvitation, chipboard tickets or even a menu into the pocket.
The ruffled ribbon accent is super easy to make. Lay down the MONO Adhesive Power Bond and a very thin line of Mono Multi Liquid Glue onto your project. Take a length of ribbon (I usually work right off the roll), and pleat it down the adhesive in a back and forth fashion. Don’t worry about being perfect, the irregularities in the size and direction of the pleats are what make this embellishment so endearing. The adhesive holds the pleats in place as you work and the Multi Glue holds it forever, especially when working with wider ribbons.
The chipboard tickets were colored with the Dual Brush Pens, with the easiest and fastest way ever to finish ‘raw’ chipboard! I used #723 pink and #126 light olive to match the Paper Posie package. Scribble the colors onto a piece of plastic and spritz with water. Place the chipboard down into the color and lift. Repeat until it is covered with color. To give the antique edge, and while still wet, run a #977 saddle brown Brush tip around the edge. The brown will blend as the chipboard dries.
I finished the pieces by stamping details with brown ink.
The Paper Posie package was not even dented – so I created a page ready to add favorite photos and journaling after the picnic! I would most likely antique the photos before printing to match the theme of the page. I mirrored the pocket from the invitation and kept the design simple with a quad panel showing off the pretty papers. This would also make a fun gift for an honored guest at your picnic.

“tangle” supplies;
Tombow MONO Adhesive Dots , Tomobw Dual Brush Pen – N15 black , Tomow White Gel Pen
the idea of the “ZENTANGLE” is interesting to me. all those doodles in
the notebooks of my college classes actually have a name now! well, unfortunately i am
not much of a doodler now, but i took inspiration from the zentangle
and put it toward my scrapbooking.
this layout was inspired by the doodling now called zentangle. Both the pattern paper blocks on the page and the title were a result of the research i have done concerning zentangle. the result is a fun technique that fits my style. i’m coining my own phrase and calling it a “scrap-tangle”!
using coordinating pattern papers (all of mine came from OCTOBER AFTERNOON’s recess line) i cut (mostly) straight lines from one of the pattern papers. then using the other coordinating patterns i filled in a 4″ square piece of white cardstock. the final result is similar to the different doodling one might do with they were creating their own zentangle.
*tips* (because i tried this three different ways)
*you can doodle a zentangle first.
i took my 4″ square piece of white cardstock and drew directly on it first.
then using a piece of vellum i laid it over the design and traced it.
next i flipped the piece of vellum over onto the pattern paper i wanted to use and re-traced the lines on the back side of the vellum.
this will transfer the lead from the front side of the vellum to the pattern paper.
now you have a guide to cut out your shapes out of patterned paper.
a suggestion with this method – number each piece that is traced on the vellum AND on the pattern paper. so when all of your pieces are cut out you can fit it together like a puzzle with a pattern.
*another way to do this is to use scraps pieced together
generously apply adhesive to the background you want to use, again mine was the 4″ square, and then apply pattern paper. i used the Tombow MONO dot runner, as it is a little more forgiving if the pieces need to be adjusted.
then after laying down the background pieces i covered the seams, where the pattern papers came together, with the bold strips.
*keep all of your “bold” strips the same pattern paper. it will keep a cohesive feel to the final piece.
*try to make your bold lines wavy, not always straight
*use your Tombow Dual Brush Markers and ink the edges of the pieces being put together. it makes the “scrapped zentangle” have more definition.
“scrap-tangle”!
Ever have projects that are in your mind for a LOOONNGG time before they actually get done? Yeah, that’s me big time. I’ve had this idea for a HOME album since we moved in….. 6 years ago. I had ideas of before and after pictures of what we’ve done with the place, how it’s been decorated and showing off how we’ve turned it from a house into a home…. I’ve done pages here and there but never really sat down and finished it out. The ironic part is that the pages I’ve done need to be added to. 4 years ago I did a LO of my son’s room. Basically that needs to be completely revamped because now it’s less like a nursery and more like a little boy’s room. That’s how it goes, right? You create, you learn, you grow and you document. Life is ever changing and it’s part of the process. This week I’ve been working on updating and creating and I am loving the results of our house transforming into our home.
This Layout is all about our backyard fun this spring. I swear that space outside has turned into another room in our house and I love the sanctuary it gives us. From reading in the hammock together, playing in the playhouse, enjoying countless picnics, building in the sandbox, growing in the garden or flying on the swing it’s our little oasis. For the branches I grabbed a few backyard twigs and used Tombow MONO Adhesive DOTS for a quick hold while I stitched it firmly in place then I added a little texture with some fleece from my sewing stash and added some grass/leaves with Tombow MONO AQUA Liquid Glue and finished it all with a couple Doodlebug Flowers, twine and wooden trim. What about you? How have you documented some of your favorite places?

School is out and it’s the perfect time to send out Graduation cards and finish up a few School Layouts before the ink dries on the report cards and the memories are covered up by summer fun. This card April made is perfect for slipping a little summer money into and sending to a niece or nephew. I loved the color combo and the pocket idea so much I used it as a little further inspiration on my latest school layout… On mine I added a little Glimmer Mist, a splash of October Afternoon and brought it all together using our MONO Permanent Adhesive Roller. Even the cork elements on the layout are not going to budge. I’ve been meaning to pull all the elements from the school year together in one place and just never felt like I could do it without it being too overwhelming. April’s card was just what I needed. It’s funny how one thing can spur others on in different directions. Thanks girl for the inspiration!

What have you been inspired by lately?
i have to admit, i found graphic 45 at my local archiver’s and called joanna immediately. she got on their website while we were on the phone, and before our conversation was over she had contacted them to do a partnership….and here we are, less than a month later, creating with their gorgeous paper! we’re doing a graphic 45 partnership later this month and i was just too excited not go give you a little sneak peak so keep watching for this fun team-up.
there is so much that i want to do with it…but for my first project using graphic 45 i was loving the fact that i could mix and match several of their lines. i ended up using two sheets of paper from the botanicabella collection, one from times nouveau collection, and the tags from the communique collection. i added my journaling with tombow dual brush pens. i love that they have a brush tip and a fine pen tip so i have more flexibility in my work. my adhesive is my trusty MONO DOTS adhesive runner. one thing is for sure, graphic 45 is now on my list of companies to watch… remember to check back soon for this fun upcoming partnership.
Another fun partnership this week and trust me, if you aren’t already in love with Pink Paislee, you will be after this week is over!! They have absolutely beautiful designs and the embellishments are creative, and full of life. As always, make sure to leave your thoughts and comments for a chance to be entered into one of this weeks giveaways. The Pink Paislee Blog is giving away a few prize packs as well so be sure to pop in over there often. Trust me, it won’t be a waste of time, they have so much mojo over there that it leaks out of your computer the more you scroll through their archives. And show your love by becoming a fan of theirs on Facebook too!
As I’ve posted earlier, this year I’m doing Project Life and as I was working on it this month I noticed that the colors from Pink Paislee’s 365 Degrees and Bayberry Cottage Collection match perfectly. I’m making every month in my Project Life album has it’s own color scheme to keep the look coherent so this realization was perfect for me. I was able to use a BUNCH of Pink Paislee products to pull together the month of April. Since we had a big holiday this month (Easter) I wanted to really showcase that one day so I made an 8 1/2×11 -2 page Layout complete with Pink

Paislee Papers and Embellishments, PL page protectors and some hidden pictures. What makes cutting up the PL page protectors work is Tombow’s MONO Vellum Adhesive Roller. I can literally cut anywhere I want and attach it to my photos- and it’s still just as protected and strong. It was liberating to scrapbook with NO BOUNDARIES! I’m loving the Project Life concept, I’m loving the colors and Pink Paislee matching it and I’m loving the currently caught-up finished project! Have a creative Monday!
To say that Sarah is a multi task-er is an understatement. Sarah is a Pre-K teacher, by day, she works at her local scrapbook store by afternoon and she’s even getting a Master’s Degree by night. Starting to sound like a super hero, isn’t she? She does find time to spend and enjoy lots of precious moments with her cozy family of four. She savors every home-run and ballet twirl and has her camera with her the entire time. I’m not exaggerating at all when I say that Sarah’s favorite adhesive is Tombow DOTS adhesive roller. She keeps some at her school, and in her home office but, I’ve even caught sight of it in her purse on multiple occasions! This week she put together a perfect springtime layout for her and her daughter with just some spring paper and Tombow DOT adhesive runner on everything. Even the flower stems and leaves because it’s perfect for the skinny ribbon. Just roll out the DOTS where you need it, put the rub-on or tiny embellishments where you need it and rub away any extra adhesive! Such a cute memorable moment for the two of them. Thanks Sarah for being part of the Tombow team!
Last weeks team-up was so much fun I just had to do one last Imaginisce Inspired layout. This fun one was using their Live Loud collection. Normally it takes me hours and hours per layout but when you have such cute paper it makes it quick. Just a funky star, a few stitching accents, word strips and MONO Adhesive DOTS make this layout come together in about a 1/2 hour!
OH YEAH! And today’s the big day that we choose our winners!! IMAGINISCE is beyond awesome (but you knew that already, right?) and they’re sending out a surprise product pack to BETH WARREN and LISA HAAS! To top it off we’re sending out a 10 pack of our Jellybean Dual Brush Pens to MUSTANGKAYLA and BOBBI M!! THANK YOU ALL FOR COMMENTING! Oh wait there’re more! We’re giving away another Jellybean set and Imaginisce is giving away another product pack to one of our Facebook fans! So be sure to check for your name there!
Thanks Imaginisce for all the inspiration, fun products and amazing giveaways!! What about you? Did you like it? What other companies would you like to see us team up with?
*if you’re a winner please check your inbox. I need everyone to email me your snail mail addy so that we can get these sent off as soon as possible! (jwallace *at* tombowusa *dot* com)
