Posts from ‘Teaming up with Tombow’

This week Tombow is teaming up with the fine folks at Walnut Hollow to share some incredible altered projects.  In case you have missed any of them you can find them here:  DebbieSarah, and Jennie.  Aren’t those girls talented?

I was thrilled to receive this Tissue Box to work with.  I knew I wanted to create a tissue box that would be used for the holidays so I took my inspiration from my Christmas decorations.  My tree is decorated in aqua, teal, white, silver and a touch of lime green. I replaced the lime green with some pretty purples for this project.

I started by giving the naked box a coat of gesso to prime it and then set it aside to dry.  Once the gesso was good and dry I added a coat of Martha Stewart glitter paint in Aqua.  Guess what? The paint was transparent and although the glitter was pretty and shimmery, you could barely see the color over the gesso.

Hmmm, this got me thinking so I pulled out some of my Tombow Dual Brush markers and scribbled  randomly onto the sides of the box with a few colors and then spritzed with a fine mist of water. I moved the box from side to side allowing the inks to run and blend together.

After it dried, it still needed something so I wadded up some white tissue paper, tore it and set about covering each side of the box by laying down a layer of Tombow Mono Aqua Adhesive first and then the torn pieces of the tissue. The adhesive dries clear and leaves a nice finish to the box.  Once this was completely dry I started building my  poinsettia floral spray.

I used Tombow Power Tabs to attach the floral spray pieces and

Tombow Foam Tabs for stacking and attaching the flower to the box.  I stamped several images from the Printworks poinsettia stamp onto 140# cold press watercolor paper and embossed with silver powder. I water colored the flowers with Tombow Dual Brush markers. The top of the box was finished off with some dew drops.

This week we are teaming up with Walnut Hollow and I got to work with a 6×6 wood panel that I loved. For my theme I was trying to do something vintage with a twist but I also wanted to do a inspirational wall hanging.

I decoupaged the frame using Tombow’s Mono Multi Liquid Glue which worked great and fast. I colored my stamped images with my Retro Dual Brush Pen Set. Dual Brush Pens are amazing because I use them for doodling and coloring my stamped pictures. I actually just started coloring and I can’t tell how how much the Blender Pen that is included in the Dual Brush Pen Sets helps, is amazing! For the tag in the center I used foam tabs to lift the tag from the center and for gluing the dew drops I used Mono Aqua Liquid Glue  which is the best for this since is completely clear. For the ribbon that holds the frame I used the Power Tabs each Power Tab can hold 6 ounces so to be really sure I used 3 Power Tabs on each side and it worked great!

What do you think about these gorgeous purples and oranges tones?

I hope you enjoyed my vintage with a twist project,  I sure had lots of fun making it!!
Happy Thanksgiving!! The Tombow Family is truly thankful for all the customers and followers we have!!
Take Care!!

thank you to WALNUT HALLOW for stretching my creativity! it was a challenge to come up with an idea to work for the wood canvas! but i managed a project that my family will enjoy using!
as i was brainstorming ideas with my other half, we came up with the idea for a surface that dice can be rolled on, where they would be contained, and not go skidding off the edge of a table.
i have two children, and i have taught many little ones, so this is a common occurrence. i would gladly use a solution to crawling on my hands and knees picking the game pieces up off the floor.
to decorate the box i started by using a Tombow Dual Brush Pen to color the wood on the top of the box brown. it took several coats, using the scroll brush tip. i used Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue to adhere pattern paper to the inside and outside of the box. i love using this glue for altering! then i cut felt to fit inside the bottom of the box. i placed Tombow Power Tabs around the edges and throughout the middle to give the felt a good secure hold.

finally i used letter stickers for the “title” and brushed over them with Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue for added hold.it dries clear so it makes the perfect top coat sealant!

i’ll be with my friends and family this week of thanksgiving and we’ll pull out a few games and we’ll give this box a try! i’ll tell you what i’m not going to be doing…chasing after dice!

happy thanksgiving!

Hi there!  Today is my turn on the Tombow blog to hop along with the gang at Fancy Pants.  Fancy Pants sponsored us by sending each of the Tombow DT tons of goodies from the Oct 31 line to play with.  I was thrilled when I received my goodies as I hadn’t started my Halloween cards yet and this gave me the perfect opportunity to get started.
For my first card I used the adorable Frankie digi image from By Lori Designs.  Isn’t he cute?  I  colored him in using Irojiten Colored Pencils and Gamsol.   These pencils really blend so easily with this technique.
In addition to the polka dot print from the Oct 31 line, the word “spooky” is from the Oct 31 Chipboard Elements pack.  I used Tombow Foam Tabs to attach the image panel and spooky chipboard to the card.  All  other layers were affixed with Tombow Mono Permanent Stamp Runner.
For this card I started with a base of Gina K. Designs Sweet Mango cardstock.  It is perfect with the Oct 31 line.  I created the flower using some of the circles from the Filter Embellishments pack and the flourish from the Chipboard Elements pack to represent the leaves.  I stamped Happy Halloween from Inkadinkado in black ink and colored in with a Tombow Dual Brush Marker.  The sentiment and  flourish were given a bit of sticky with the Tombow Glue Pen and then sprinkled with lime green glitter.
For my final card, in addition to the cool Oct 31 papers, I used Buttons and Glitter Cuts.  I attached the striped  panel and the Tricks or Treats glitter cut with with Tombow Foam Tabs, the buttons with Tombow Power Tabs. The buttons were tied with a wee bit of black/white twine.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me today.  I  would love to hear which card was your favorite and why.

This week we got to play with the new line from Fancy Pants Oct 31 which was a great opportunity for me to scrapbook the Halloween pictures I had left from last year. It was my daughter’s first Trick or Treat. This line has a lot of purple which went great with her Princess Jasmine costume.

The first page is Magic and for the purple I used Bewitched.

The second page I used was Night and I used Rusty Hinge Distress Ink for the border.

In this double layout I tried clustering the products and I really liked how it turned out.

In this part I used the Cards page, Alpha Stickers, Rub Ons (shoe) and Chipboard Elements (hats).

This is from the Cards page and I used the Oct 31 Rub On. Under the card I used a chipboard sticker and above the card I did some doodling with the Tombow Groovy Dual Brush Pen Set.

These are chipboard stickers and one of them is a journaling spot.

Those white swirls is a Rub On, it worked great on the picture. The purple shape is a big cut from Gypsy Wanderings and I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink around it. I also used Tombow Groovy Dual Brush Pen Set to outline the shape.

I used the chipboard stickers and I overlapped Fancy Pants buttons and I used floss to tie the buttons together.

In this card I used glitter glue and I mated the card with the Magic sheet. Below the card I used a Rub On I also did some matting with the Night sheet.

On the Night sheet I used Glossy Accents and glitter glue to make the lamp stand out.

Don’t miss tomorrow’s post to see more Fancy Pants!!

I hope you enjoyed the post!!

Take Care!!

it’s my favorite time of the month! blog hop time. i have really enjoyed working with the “OCT 31″ line by Fancy Pants.

the line has so many enchanting papers, easy to use stickers and fun embellishments. i should have taken a picture of all of it before i started working, but i didn’t (too eager to get to work!)

so instead, this time i am entertaining you with a picture of “after”…what i was left with. it may look like a lot, until you see what i started with! and here is a link to everything that is included in this line from Fancy Pants. ( i had MOST of it!)

from my first glance at the papers in this collection i knew that they would be perfect for this COMING  halloween, since my daughter is dressing as a witch. i’ve been working a halloween or two in the past each year and i’ve never been concerned with matching costumes to the paper used for the memory keeping, but it was the perfect choice for this year.

i began with a 2 page layout, using quite a bit of product without making it feel overwhelming or busy. i used Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent. i left lots of room for pictures to document our costume choices for this year.

once that was finished I started work on a a small album where I could keep pictures of all the events of the holiday – Trunk-or-Treat at church, Trick-or-Treating on Halloween, classroom parties, pumpkin carving, and our own Halloween party. i needed a standard size, so i made mats for pictures that would be printed wallet size. This way I can fit many pictures on a page, even though the page is only 6×12.

for this album i used Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent  for all the paper embellishments and mats, and i used Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Adhesive to adhere the background papers to the chipboard album pages. (album by pink paislee).

to create the album i spread the pages out…and then all around i laid out the sticker sheets, chipboard stickers, die cuts and paper scraps from previously cut sheets, and worked on one set of pages at a time. first i added some photo mats, then i would scour through all the goodies to find embellishments that complimented each other and helped pull the page together.

title page

filler pages

back page

there is plenty of room to add more pictures if needed, and room to add journaling. two things to keep in mind when pre-making an album.

so in my goal to use as much as i could and i managed a double page layout, a 10 page mini album, and a huge sense of accomplishment…Halloween memories are ready to be made!

To keep up the Party from this week I made a layout of my daughter’s first birthday but not the actual birthday. Is a picture of her at the store picking the theme of the birthday and if you haven’t guessed we picked Minnie Mouse.

For the title I used the 1 candle of the Cricut Sweet Treats Cartridge and the font is from the All Mixed Up Cartridge. Most of the patterned papers are from Momenta.

For the doodling I used Tombow Markers and I also used them on the  candle flame and I used the blending marker.

This cute girl and the balloon is from the Paper Dolls Everyday Cartridge and I made the ears with the Paper Dolls Dress Up Cartridge and my Gypsy. For her face I used Peachy Keen Stamps  and for her hair I used Tombow Markers and the blending marker. I also doodle the balloon the with the markers. I embossed the little girl dress and I inked it.

This cupcake is from Sweet Treats. I embossed the cupcake wrapper and I used glitter glue on the candle.

The “real’ rubber stamps from Purple
Onion Designs worked famously for this Bouquet Thank You. The rubber takes the
color from the Dual Brush Markers so well that you get a perfect stamping
each and every time!

I have been using this watercolor technique a lot lately, and it worked beautifully with the ‘Butterfly Set’ and ‘Thank You Notebook’ Stamps from Purple Onion.  Simply start with Dual Brush Pens using the lightest color and cover the entire stamp. Continue to add the darker colors to add detail. When finished, give the stamp a fine misting of water and stamp onto smooth, lightweight watercolor paper. I use the 90 lb. Hot Press from Canson.
Cut out the stamped images. With the Butterfly motifs, add a line of MONO Multi Liquid Glue to the bottom back. Let dry completely.
Using a Power Tab, attach a 12” wooden skewer to the back of the ‘Thank You’ panel. Cover the back with a piece of green cardstock cut with pinking decorative scissors using a few more Power Tabs. I also attached a smaller butterfly with Foam Tabs to the top front of the sign.
This is where I wrote any greetings or personal messages to the recipient.

Cut a 2” x 8” strip of pink tissue  paper with the pinking decorative scissors.
Pleat it with your fingers and then adhere to the back of the butterfly along the glue. Use Power Tabs to add a wooden skewer to each butterfly and back with another cut out butterfly so they look good from both sides.

I hope you enjoyed this post, please stop by again soon.

It’s a blog hop with Purple Onion!

This summer I became a little more domestic. A friend taught me how to make scones. I have to admit, I’m actually proud of myself…scones sound so classy and hard to bake. Really they weren’t…classy, yes, but hard, not at all. So I’ve made them several times since then.
When I got my stamps from Purple Onion I was tickled that one of the stamps was the wording  for yummy homemade goodies, including scones, as well as a “sweet treats” label.

I began thinking about the upcoming fall and winter holidays and the baking I could do and the yummy domestic homemade goodies I might be able to whip up.

I wanted some tags to tie onto said goodies, but the “sweet treats” stamp had a solid middle.
Now, I admit, I don’t normally do this, but I grabbed an exacto knife and cut out the center. Now I can take the wording stamps for the homemade treats and place it in the center opening of the “sweet treats” stamp directly on an acrylic block together.

The result are several super easy totally cute tags…just waiting for all the baking I’m going to be doing.

Purple Onion stamps are unmounted rubber stamps. The images stamp clear with crisp lines and they are easy to store, as they lay flat. I found to attach them to the acrylic block for stamping I could use the Tombow MONO Adhesive Removable to hold it down. While I was stamping the adhesive held strong. And when I was done I was able to peel the stamp from the block and rub off the adhesive, leaving the stamp clean and free of residue.

paper and stickers that are coordinated for me are the perfect solution for getting scrapbook layouts done quickly and effortlessly. Echo Park’s papers did not disappoint! i loved creating so many
different looks with the same paper line. sometimes, pictures just need to be scrapped and when that sometime happens, i hope you have Echo Park around to play with.
i had some time, and in 3 days i managed to complete 5 layouts…. take a look!

here’s a closer look at some of the details and the Tombow adhesives i used…
on the “easter” layout i took the yellow sticker frame from the Echo Park letter sticker sheet, added Tombow Foam Tabs all the way around, sprinkled it with baby powder (to neutralize the adhesive on the sticker), then cut it at the corners and reassembled it to create a border around my pictures. once i had it where i wanted it i took the backing off the Tombow Foam Tabs and stuck it down.

on the “chinese tea” layout I used Tombow PowerBond to create a pleated border for the main picture. I also used the Tombow Glue Pen to place a few gems that needed to be strategically placed as well as adding pattern paper to the back of clear buttons. and to add a button to the center of one of the flower stickers.

for all the other layouts I used Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Runner.

Thanks  Echo Park! Check  out their blog this week…and follow these links to their designer’s blogs as  well!
