in my short lifetime I have held over 18 jobs…not counting daughter, sister, wife and mother. i have been working since i was 11 years old, when my first job was a “page” in the public library. since then i have been a babysitter/nanny, telephone operator, sandwich maker, a retailer of clothes, books, vidoes and scrapbook supplies, and a teacher to children and adults. quite a variety.

when i first got this “suitcase” mini-album from clear scraps i immediately knew that the subject i wanted for the book had to be something other than travel. trying to think of other ideas i used my best sounding boards….and with their help we came up with an album about all my jobs.

over the last year the companies we have teamed up with have been incredibly generous with what they have sent. i was able to go back through my stash and pull out papers and embellishments that pulled this album together…..basic grey, graphic 45, maya road, cosmo cricket, and hambly screen prints

the best thing about this album is that i am using random pictures that i’ve been holding onto for years. none of my jobs have been documented with pictures, not even my scrapbooking jobs. so a random picture here or there, or a company logo is all i have taken with me. this book will be a place to write the memories and experiences i had while at those jobs. could be a good laugh years from now.

while working with this clear album i have come up with some tips to keep in mind, because there are challenges as well as rewards to working with clear.

1. definitely use Tombow MONO Vellum Adhesive. the most you’ll see is a shimmer…but it really is invisible.

2. apply the adhesive to the picture, paper or embellishment instead of the clear pages. easier to apply…and go slow, the more even the coverage, the less “goobers” will occur.

3. take care when placing your pictures and paper…once it is down, it is down!

4. Tombow MONO Glue Pen will adhere embellishments to the clear acrylic

5. take advantage of layers

6. clear album pages are a double sided paper’s best friend…you get to show off both sides! no choosing or leaving one side out!

After a recent project, I was left with lots of plastic cylinder containers. They have been sitting in a box in my studio taking up room but I was very hesitant to add them to the land fill…when I saw the beautiful papers from Bo-Bunny I had an epiphany; decorate the containers with these beautiful papers and matching stickers to hold various creative materials in my studio. So if you hate throwing packaging away, use this repurposed ‘trash to treasure’ idea!

Any cylinder container can work for this project – oatmeal, coffee and potato chips all come in cylinder shaped containers. I really liked these clear ones as I can see at a glance the contents. These beautiful matching papers from Bo-Bunny are perfect!

1. Remove any unwanted labels. I only had to remove the white tag at the bottom as the paper covered all the others. I use a 80/20 blend of rubbing alcohol and Goo-Gone, it works great on all plastic or glass to remove labels and permanent marks. It also cleans and prepares the surface for a good adhesive bond.

2. Cut the paper in strips, my sizes were 10” x 3” and 10” x 2” for the label, 10” x 1/2” to cover the lid’s band and a 3” diameter circle for the top of the lid.

3. Use MONO Clear Adhesive to make sure the paper strips hold onto the slick plastic surface, as well as providing an invisible bond.

4. I used the matching stickers to embellish the containers, but the sticker did not hold well on the curved surface. A simple solution was to use the MONO Multi liquid glue to make a more permanent bond. Rubber bands held the stickers in place as the glue dried.

5. I filled the finished containers with some creative materials I use, shells, crushed coral and sea glass. For extra accents, I will be using the MONO Multi to attach a sample of the contents to the top of the lid.

Gift Bow

Continuing in my recycling manner, I solved another problem. Instead of going out and buying a bow for the top of a gift, I created one with my scraps left over from the Bo-Bunny project.

I used the instructions for ‘Green Crafting Gift Wrap Bow’ from favecrafts.com and cut the Bo-Bunny paper into 3/4” strips. Instead of holding the bottom of the brad with your teeth as the instructions recommend, I used a hemostat to hold the pieces in place. It’s amazing how many times I use this handy surgical tool for a third hand in my studio. You can find them at surgical supply stores.

A quick spray of Gold Glitter mist gave a beautiful sparkle to the finished bow. I used MONO Adhesive Power Bond to attach it to the box. The lettering on the envelope used three matching Dual Brush Pen colors.

Be sure to comment this week, lots of prize packages and you can even head on over to The Bo-Bunny Blog for more Bo-Bunny/Tombow Team Up Inspiration!

there are many fun projects that can be created with their clear screen prints…clear cards, clear favor boxes, cutting up the screen prints to use as individual embellishments and using the screen print as a background for a layout, which is what i did with this project. because the layout was about a dress my mother made by hand i sewed through the screen print and the cardstock for the detailing around the scalloped edge piece and the title “dress”. i used the Vellum adhesive to hold it in place. then i cut up another screen print sheet that had several frames and used one over the focal picture and another to frame around the title. i used Vellum adhesive to put those down too.

i have several more ideas and lots of hambly product to play with, i’ll be working on a few more projects to post in the next few months. so many ideas, so little time. what about you? any hambly projects you have in the works?

This is a quick project that you can place into a lunch bag or briefcase; a gift of a silly moment on April Fool’s day!

Tombow vellum adhesive, Dual Brush Pens and Imaginisce paper and embellishments were used along with some paper punches and vellum.

The card is to be hanged on your nose to view the scripted message on the other side – and to look silly while doing it! It will be fun to do, but also to share with others!

I liked the paper from the Imaginisce ‘Scooter’s Vacation’ and also added stickers, a stamped image and flowers from the same collection so everything matched. The Tombow Dual Brush Pens that match the Imaginisce Scooter’s Vacation Line:

837 Wine Red. 969 Chocolate. 373 Sea Blue. 991 Light Ochre. 126 Light Olive

Everything was put together with Mono Adhesive Vellum.

I use an upside down vase punch for the nose opening, but cutting a triangle from the paper would also work well. On the front of the card place the following message:

To view your message, go to a mirror and hang this on your nose…

For the flip side, write this message on a piece of vellum:

Wishing you a goofy, funny and silly day! Love from Lirpa Sloof

Turn the vellum over and copy the letters. Adhere this side up on the card.

I decorated the card to make it look as goofy as I could – you could really go to town with this idea, big ears maybe? Silly hair?…have fun!

Have you figured out who Lirpa Sloof is yet? April Fools spelled backwards!

What about you? Do you play any April Fool’s day pranks at your house?
