DIY Plant Stand with Seed Beads

In this blog post, I’m going to show you how to decorate the cutest DIY plant stand using seed beads and the new Tombow Xtreme Project Tape!

Hey everyone, it’s Katie here. I live in Florida, so now that it’s summer my plants are all so happy. I have a few hanging out on the deck of my tiny house and I was thinking how cute it would be to make a little decorative plant stand for my snake plant, so I did and I wanted to show you how too.

Supplies needed:

  • Wooden tray or stand (I got this cute stand from Michaels. It has little feet underneath to raise it up)
  • Tombow Xtreme Project Tape
  • Seed beads (I used chunky 6/0 sized beads so I didn’t have to deal with the teeny tiny ones)

Step one:

Line the top inside of your plant stand with Tombow’s Xtreme Project Tape.

This is a new adhesive and I LOVE it. It’s so strong. That said, it is very sticky, so once you put it on your project it’s on there. It also sticks to glass, metal, ceramic, and plastic, so your plant stand could be made out of a variety of materials.

Step two:

Add the seed beads! If you want a specific design, using a pair of tweezers will help.

I wanted a cute border, so I did the entire outline in only the dark pink beads, and then I poured my remaining colors into a container so they were good & mixed, and just poured them into the tray. This allowed me to get a random mix, and then I just used my hand to sort of “mash” them down into the project tape, and then flipped the tray to pour out any extras.  They stuck so well to the Xtreme Project Tape.
