Make A Vintage-Inspired Card in 5 Simple Steps

In this post, I’m going to show you how to make a vintage-inspired card and envelope set in 5 easy-to-follow steps.

Hi friends, I’m Carola and I love making handmade cards for friends and family. Imagining someone open happy mail to see a personalized card that I made for them brings me a lot of joy. If you’re like me and have stickers and decorative paper lying around, making cards is also an easy way to use your stationery supplies.

I love hand lettering with Tombow Dual Brush Pens because they’re vibrant and come in sets of complimentary colors. For this project, I chose the Cottage set since the shades match the vintage vibe that I’m aiming for.

Supplies Used:

Process:

Step 1: If you can, find some vintage-themed wrapping, scrapbooking, or tissue paper. You’ll need a square piece of it, to fit within an envelope. Cut along the middle of the square so you have two pieces to work with.

Step 2: Adhere one end of the paper to your envelope using a MONO Glue Stick, trimming it as needed to fit within. Stick the other half to the bottom of your blank card.

Step 3: Using the Dual Brush Pen, Cottage set, hand letter a quote on the front of the card. I used six markers that match my vintage paper: Pen 679, 757, 772, 993, 312, and 192.

Step 4: Add stickers (words or phrases would be perfect) on top of the paper for more interest and dimension.

Step 5: Using the same markers, I hand lettered the name and address on the envelope. This adds a bit of flair to your happy mail and makes it even more special for your recipient.

Feel free to add a custom message to the inside of your card (or back of the postcard) before tucking it into the envelope. I enjoy writing a personal note to friends and family, especially if it’s to celebrate a special occasion or achievement.

I encourage you to make this project if you or someone close to you enjoys the vintage aesthetic (of course, you can also recreate this project with any other theme). If you would like to share your creation with us, remember to tag  @TombowUSA and @FromCarola on Instagram.
