Heartfelt Hugs and Missing You Card making
By Sara Hynes
Hello friends! I’m Sara Hynes, and today I’m going to show you how to create a fun, a card for someone you may have been missing lately.
What You’ll Need:
- Dual Brush Pen Art Markers, Cottage 10-Pack
- Printer paper
- MONO Glue Stick
- MONO Graph Mechanical Pencil
- Pattern paper
- Envelope
- MONO Twin Marker
- Scissors
Step 1: Draw the Inside
Start by drawing the inside design. I chose a bunny, but you can pick any animal you like. Using the MONO Graph mechanical pencil, sketch out the bunny’s body with its arms extended as if offering a hug.
Tip: Make sure your animal is large enough to fill the inside of your card. Use a thinner paper so it stays when folded on the inside of your card.
Step 2: Color the Inside
Now, color in your animal with the Dual Brush Pen Cottage 10-Pack. I used browns and pinks for my bunny. Once you’re happy with the coloring, trace over your pencil lines with the MONO Twin Marker in black to give the design more definition.
Step 3: Cut Out Your Animal
After coloring, carefully cut out your animal.
Tip: I cut off the whiskers and re-drew them after attaching the bunny to the inside of the card.
Step 4: Assemble the Inside
Use your MONO glue stick to attach the bunny to the inside of the card. Then, cut out a small banner from white paper for your message. I used a dual-sided pattern paper, with a blue pattern on the inside and a flower pattern on the outside.
Step 5: Decorate the Front
It’s time to decorate the front! Using the Dual Brush Pens from the Cottage 10-Pack, write “Missing You” and draw a little flower to match the paper design. Use the MONO glue stick to secure the white paper to the card front.
Step 6: Decorate the Envelope
Once everything is glued and dry, decorate the envelope. Using the same Dual Brush Pens, write out the recipient’s name and address, making it colorful while still mail-friendly. Don’t forget to add your return address on the back.
And that’s it! You’ve made a sweet, heartfelt “Hugs and Missing You” card. I hope you enjoyed making this card as much as I did. For more craft ideas and inspiration, head over to the Tombow blog.
