Capture Summer Memories in a Journal Spread

Summer may be over, but our memories can live on in our journal. Hi friends, it’s Carola and in this post, I’ll show you how I created a fun journal spread to document Summer adventures.

If you want to reflect on your own Summer memories in your journal, feel free to use photos, ephemera, and other items you may have collected, along with the following supplies:

Supplies Used:

My Process in Creating a Summer Journal Spread:

Step 1: Using a pencil, I drew out what I wanted my layout to look like. With a MONO Drawing Pen, I traced over the details, including sea shells in the corners to add some interest.

Step 2: Using Dual Brush Pens (993 and 379), I hand lettered the title “Summer nostalgia”. You can get the shadow effect using N89.

Step 3: I find the Adhesive Dots to be really useful when sticking ephemera and other bulky items to a page. I used them to adhere photos and a butterfly to my spread. I like the collage look!

Step 4: I love adding my personal thoughts to my journal spreads. Take the time to reflect on your adventures and say goodbye to Summer creatively.

Step 5: To finish the journal spread and give it a beach feel, I used Dual Brush Pen, 403 to create the watercolor effect. Just add color to a Blending Palette and transfer to paper using a wet paintbrush.

And that’s the journal spread! I hope this inspired you to create your own end-of-Summer reflection. If you would like to share it with us, remember to tag  @TombowUSA and @FromCarola on Instagram.
