Spooky-Cute Hanging Sign with Tombow

The first cool breeze of fall always makes me want to add a little “boo” to our home. This year I grabbed a small hanging wooden round from my stash and turned it into a double-sided Halloween sign—one side says TRICK OR TREAT, the other is a sweet GHOST PARTY. It came together fast, and the real stars were my Tombow MONO Multi XL Liquid Glue (for a strong paper-to-wood bond) and Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent (for clean, instant paper-to-paper layers).

Supplies:

I started by tracing the wood circle onto two Halloween papers and cutting them out—one bold plaid and one pastel stripe. Next came the magic moment—attaching paper to wood. I ran the MONO Multi Liquid Glue in a loose zigzag across the wood, then spread it thin with a flat brush so every inch was covered. This gives you a strong, even bond without bubbles. I set the plaid side down, pressed with my hands, and burnished lightly with a clean cloth. After a minute, it was on there good. I repeated the same steps for the back with the striped paper.

Then, I centered a black “TRICK OR TREAT” circle on the plaid. It grabbed right away and stayed perfectly flat with no warping. I dressed each side with stickers and ephemera (nothing too bulky so the sign lays flat).

A tiny detail I love: I used a Tombow Dual Brush Pen Art Marker to tint the raw edge of the wood and the macramé tassel top—just a quick swipe adds a polished, playful pop that matches the papers.

When I hung it up and the tassel swayed, the colors felt fun and friendly—not too spooky, just the right amount of Halloween cheer. And thanks to the adhesives, everything is smooth, secure, and ready for October.

Quick Tips

  • For paper-to-paper layers, use Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive for a clean, no-mess hold—especially around curved edges.
  • For paper-to-wood, brush a thin, even coat of Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue Liquid Glue over the entire surface to avoid bubbles and ensure a long-lasting bond.
  • Edge-tint wood or twine with Tombow Dual Brush Pen Art Markers to coordinate with your papers.
  • Make it double-sided so you can flip the look with a quick spin!

Happy haunting—and happy crafting!
