Book Journal Spread

Hi Tombow Bookworms! This is Jennie with a book journal spread to document my favorite books this year, so far. This year I’ve been reading a lot, and my book journal has been helping me meditate over the books I’ve read.

Supplies:

Create a space on your book journal to document your favorite books of the year! Grab your Tombow Adhesives and Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens! #tombow #bookjournal

Step 1: Plan the layout.

Plan the size of your title, the sizes of the books, and make sure all 12 books will fit on two pages.

Step 2: Add the title.

Use the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens to add the title. The smaller tips are perfect for A5 journals. I used lavender for the base and then I added a line in Light Blue. To doodle a border, I started with pink. Once we have more elements we can add more doodles.

Step 4: Prepare the book spaces.

Since we are halfway through the year, I already have some images of the books. For the rest of the year, I just used a blank piece of paper the same size as the other covers. I used the Tombow MONO Removable Adhesive to temporarily glue these blank stand in books. That way I can remove them and switch them for the book cover later. To put the book covers on the pattern paper I used the Tombow MONO Air Touch Adhesive. You don’t have to print the book covers, you can write the name of the books.

Step 5: Glue the books on the spread.

I wanted to add a monthly marker, and I wanted all of them to look the same. Stamping on these round stickers was a great idea! Here is a tip for people who are new at stamping: When your stamps are new, use the Tombow MONO Eraser to prep your stamp. The white erasers are better, the black shavings might show through the ink if they linger. It helps them grab the ink a little better. The first time you use them you are supposed to use the eraser, ink them, and then clean them. Then they are ready to use!

It’s easier to put the Tombow MONO Air Touch Adhesive on the sticker and put the book on top. Once you remove the sticker from the backing, it becomes flimsy and it’s harder to center. Place the sticker on the page, and then when it’s centered and placed, add adhesive behind the book.

Step 6: Add doodles!

Once you have the bones for your page, add other fun things like doodles! I used the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens Pastels to add super tiny details around the title, the border, and the monthly titles.

There was a space in the middle of the title, so I drew a book.
