Hey Tombow fans, Katie here! Did you know that the Dual Brush Pen has been around for 40 years?!? Yep, For 40 years, Tombow’s Dual Brush Pens have been the gold standard for artists and crafters because of their limitless creative possibilities!

The History of the Dual Brush Pen:

The Brush Pen concept originated in the 1970’s from fountain pens

Tombow developed a nylon nib to enhance ink consistency in the early 1980’s

The Dual Brush Pen concept started as a “soft lettering pen”

In 1984, the AB-T was launched with 72 colors and later expanded, with the current color range of 108 colors

The Dual Brush Pen was widely adopted by artists and creators, expanding beyond the original concept of a lettering pen

AB-T stands for “Art Brush Twin”

Originally, the AB-T was planned with a single tip and the product name might have been AB-S (Art Brush Single)

Each color did not have a name when launched, instead being identified only by the 3-digit color code

The 3-digit color code represents color hue and tone – the first two digits represent color hue and the last digit color tone

The Colorless Blender is sometimes mistaken for an empty pen with no ink, but it actually contains colorless ink.
