Hello, friends! Andrea Lake here wishing you a Happy National Book Day, friends! There’s something wonderful about opening a good book—the feel of the pages, the smell of ink, and the ideas waiting to be discovered. I have always loved reading and crafting, and I like to add a bit of color and creativity to my quiet reading time. Whether I’m reading a favorite story or looking through a craft book full of pictures, I always find new ideas that excite me.
Supplies:

Some of my favorite craft books are The Art of Playful Lettering and Modern Folk Art Coloring Book. I love how these books make me want to open a coloring book and add my own touch—especially when I mix different colors in the detailed designs. Reading Palette Perfect or trying the simple letter-drawing tips in Mastering Hand-Lettering feels like learning right from the authors, right there on my shelf.

National Book Day shows us that ideas are all around us: from a comfy chair by a pile of books to a desk covered in pattern books and notebooks. Today, pick up your favorite book and that coloring book you’ve wanted to try, and see what you create. Take a picture of your reading spot, share which craft books you love, and tag us—because every page can be special when we share it. Happy reading (and coloring)!
Love,
Andrea Lake.
