This week we are featuring projects with a masculine theme to honor those wonderful Dads in our lives. I decided to create a project that has been floating around in my head for quite a while – The Dad, You Rock! Picture frame! Tombow USA has great adhesives that serve many purposes. For this project I selected the Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue. It has a permanent bond when applied wet, as well as remains tacky, which I will use to my advantage later in the project!
Here’s what you will need:
Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue
Tombow USA Dual Brush Pens – N15 (Black)
Americana Paints by DecoArt – Khaki Tan and Zinc; Matte Spray Sealer; Wooden Picture Frame 8″ by 8″; River Rocks; Paint Brush; Sand; Newspapers.
Here’s how I made it:
1.) Base coat entire picture frame with Zinc and Khaki Tan with random strokes, let dry.
2.) Apply heavy coat of Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue to a section of the frame, then fit river rocks into place, let glue set. Repeat until front of frame is covered – front and all four outer sides.
3.) Apply Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue to inside edges of frame, allow for glue to set, but do not place river rocks.
4.) Spread out newspaper on work surface, place frame on top. Sprinkle sand in all of the cracks and crevices. Since the Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue dries tacky, the sand will stick and give your frame a finished look.
5.) Finish with several light coats of matte spray sealer, which will show off the rocks true colors and secure the sand.
6.) Trim a piece of watercolor paper to fit in the picture part of the frame. Apply a line of Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue on the back of a gift card to your Dad’s favorite home improvement store, allow glue to set, then place on watercolor paper. Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue is reposition able when dry, so it makes the perfect adhesive for attaching gift cards!
7.) Around the edge of the paper, write “Dad, You Rock!” with Tombow USA Dual Brush Pen in N15 (black) or your Dad’s favorite color.
This would be a great project to make with the kids for Father’s Day! Then give to that special Dad in your life, whether it be your Father, Brother, Husband, Uncle or Son!
