Hey friends, it’s Ali LePere here! What is your guilty pleasure? Mine is definitely washi tape. I have more rolls of washi tape than any one human could need! So in order to justify my obsession, I try to figure out different ways to use washi tape! I use it in my planner, for watercolor pieces, in happy mail exchanges, and in crafty projects. Today, I want to show you a fun way to simply display your tape!
Materials
- Tombow MONO Drawing Pen – Size 04
- Tombow TwinTone Markers
- Craft knife
- Mixed media paper
- Clipboard or hard surface
- Different kinds of washi tape
Step 1
I started by taping a small section of washi tape to my clipboard. I used my craft knife to cut square and rectangular shapes from several rolls of tape.
This plastic clipboard was my chosen cutting surface because I was using my craft knife. I wanted to make sure the surface I was cutting on was hard and that I wouldn’t mind whether or not it got scratched. Make sure you’re careful if you’re using a craft knife to cut your washi tape!
Step 2
I arranged the tape shapes on the mixed media paper. When arranging the gallery, I made sure to have an overall shape in mind because it’s pleasing to the eye. I chose a circular shape, but there aren’t really any wrong ways to arrange your washi tape!
Step 3
Using MONO Drawing Pen 04, I drew frames around each washi shape. I made simple black and white frames, but also did some ornate and wood frames for some variety.
Step 4
For my last step, I used TwinTone Markers to add a title to the page.
Then, I added some simple doodles for decoration!
This is a super simple way to show off all of the washi you’ve been hoarding. This would make a great page in a bullet journal or just a helpful reference for you to remember which washi tapes you have!
