Hello friends! I’m Smitha, and today let’s create a beautiful Nature Inspired Sketchbook Page together. There are so many natural habitats from which we can draw color inspiration for our art and feel connected to nature for a few moments daily.
What you will need:
- Watercolor Sketchbook
- Dual Brush Pen Art Markers, Tropical, 10-Pack
- MONO Drawing Pen
- MONO Graph Mechanical Pencil
- Masking Tape
- Paint brush
- Water
Step 1:
Using the MONO Graph Mechanical pencil, start by lightly sketching out your nature inspired sketchbook page. I am creating a painting of a pond with a beautiful lotus here today.
Apply a few blue tones of Dual Brush Pens onto the watercolor paper to color in the pond. A few scribbles of color with the brush tip is all you need.
Step 2:
Dip your paintbrush in water, and gently paint over the brush pen color. Since the Dual Brush Pens have water based ink, the paintbrush will spread the color to create easy watercolor looks.
Step 3:
Once the blues of the pond have been painted, add green colors to the lotus leaves. These leaves are uniquely circular in shape and have a bright lime green tone.
Step 4:
For the lotus flower itself, apply a pinks and reds to each petal of the flower. A small amount of marker color is all you need, making sure you add the darker reds towards the bottom or base of the individual petals. Then gently blend the colors with water.
Step 5:
Peel off the masking tape to reveal your watercolor page. Using the MONO Drawing Pens, I added a simple quote to emote the page which says “Lose yourself in nature and find peace”
The MONO Drawing Pen will write easily on the textured watercolor paper, but make sure you are writing slowly and that your watercoloring has dried thoroughly to prevent and pen bleeds.
The lotus flower is known for its beauty and capability of growing in any ponds of any size. These flowers are also known to improve the water quality of the ponds for the fish. Nature can inspire us to be better versions of ourselves and improve the environment in which we live.
