Have Fun with Tombow’s NEW Dual Brush Pen Set in Bright Colors 2

“I had the chance to make every possible mistake and figure out a way to recover from it. Once you realize there is life after mistakes, you gain a self-confidence that never goes away.” ― Bob Schieffer

I know, what a random Bob Schieffer quote, right? But I love Bob and I find his aphorisms quite charming. In art, a series of mistakes can turn into a series of design opportunities. And I would just like to point out, I had ton of design opportunities this week with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. There’s nothing like a tight deadline to make you get over perfectionistic tendencies and get things done. On that note, here is my fourth illustration on my fourth day as Tombow USA’s weeklong guest designer. Surprise, it’s filled with mistakes, but I happen to find them quite charming. Plus the mistakes quickly revealed what skills I need to improve. Practice, practice. practice. I created this illustration using Tombow’s NEW Dual Brush set: bright colors! And I really mean bright. These colors are not for the tepid artist. They basically demand that you have fun. Last night the weather was pretty depressing in New York City, so these pens provided a great escape hatch. In the end though, the rain found me in the form of lyrical splash patterns.
