How to create colorful backgrounds for your cards 4

Hello friends! This is Smitha here today sharing a fun technique to get messy and artsy with your Tombow Dual Brush Pens.

This week we are collaborating with Sweet Stamp Shop so make sure to stop by all week to see the cutest projects on the blog here!

I created really colorful watercolor backgrounds and then stamped some cute cute Sweet Stamp Shop images to make two cards today. Let me show you how.

Lets make the backgrounds first, I used 4 colors of Tombow Dual Brush Pens, some watercolor paper and here’s a special tool – a few cotton swabs!

I started by scribbling my colors in random shapes onto the watercolor paper. The Tombow Dual Brush Pens are water based and hence when you add water to them, it’s like you can create your own magic.

I then added water with the cotton swabs, dragged color, and added more layers of color dots with the cotton swabs till I had a colorful background that I loved.

You can see the whole entire process in this technique video I just added on Youtube. Click the video box below, or click here to watch on YouTube.

Next, I stamped the Sweet Stamp Shop images onto cardstock using Versafine black ink. I love how crisp the images turned out!

I then hand lettered a simple sentiment using the Mono Twin Permanent Marker beneath the cute dog and cat. I find that thank you and happy birthday cards are the ones I give out the most!

Finally, I assembled the cards, by adhering the background and sentiment onto the card front with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive. This adhesive is the best one to hold watercolor paper down in place.

I love how these cards turned out today! Let me know in the comments below if this is a technique you plan to try next!

Happy Crafting!
