Good Morning Y’all! Beth here from @CreativelyBeth to share some super fun and easy superhero birthday inspiration! This BAM! starburst is inspired by the 70’s Batman TV show that was a staple for me growing up. Now it is the perfect addition to a gift box or bag for an extra special boy or girl for their birthday!
Here’s what you will need to Celebrate a Superhero Birthday:
- Dual Brush Pens, 856 Chinese Red, 055 Process Yellow, and 476 Cyan
- 1500 Series Colored Pencils, 4 Chrome Yellow, and 17 Prussian Blue
- Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Twin Tip
- MONO J Drawing Pencil grade 2H
- MONO Smart Eraser
- Tombow Foam Tape
- White Cardstock, Scissors, Craft Knife and Self Healing Mat
Step One:
I didn’t have the colored cardstock I wanted for this project, so I made it! All you need is white cardstock and your Dual Brush Pens. Lay the brush tip as flat as you can and create horizontal lines, filling up the entire sheet. This is one of my favorite crafty shortcuts!
Step Two:
Draw your superhero word of choice. For this birthday wish, I sketched BAM! with MONO J Drawing Pencil 2H grade on the Chinese Red background. Then inked in the lines with Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Twin Tip first using the black tip and then laying in the heavy shadows with the gray tip. Cut around the outline with scissors and then cut out the centers with a craft knife on a self-healing mat.
Step Three:
Place the word BAM! on the Process Yellow background and sketch the thought bubble shape. Ink in and then cut out. Draw on diagonal lines with 1500 Series Colored Pencil Chrome Yellow.
Step Four:
Place thought bubble on the Cyan Blue background and sketch the starburst shape, then ink in. Cut out with scissors. Draw comic book style dots with 1500 Series Colored Pencil Prussian Blue to accent the starburst.
Step Five:
Apply strips of Tombow Foam Tape to the back of the starburst, BAM! and the thought bubble. Peel back liner paper, attach all three layers and then attach to gift box or bag.
Another fun idea would be to letter the birthday boy or girl’s name!
Thanks for stopping by!
