Hi Tombow Friends! This is Jennie! Today I’m going to share with you tips to sit down every day for 15 minutes to make a little art. Literally!
Supplies:
- Maruman Vif-Art Watercolor Paper Pad, Medium Grain, A4
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens
- Maruman Watercolor Paper
- Tombow Blending Palette
- Washi Paper
- Dies (optional)
Tip #1: Small scale space.
To get your project done in 15 minutes, you should make something small. I chose to use a die to cut small stamps. You don’t need a die, you can also use a circle punch or just cut something small with scissors. Inchie Art is an art form where you can make any kind of art as long as is one inch square.
I used washi tape to have a clean border, but this is not necessary. I used the Tombow Blending Palette to keep my desk clean.
Use a Tombow MONO Graph Mechanical Pencil to sketch your illustration. I use the Tombow MONO Dust Catcher to lightly erase the sketch before coloring it.
Tip #2: Use a limited amount of products.
For this ice cream, I’ll be using the Tombow Dual Brush Pen Yay Sorbet Pack. I love my Tombow Marker Desktop Organizer with all the 108 colors, but if my art time is limited I like to use the 10 pack or 6 pack or Tombow Dual Brush Pens. It can inspire my art and minimize the time I spend picking colors.
When I want to keep the colors light I scribble on the Tombow Blending Palette, and then I pick it up with a watercolor brush.
I always add a few extra details with the Tombow Dual Brush Pens. Wait until it’s dry to remove the washi tape.
Tip #3: Keep your art simple.
I used three colors from the Tombow Dual Brush Pens Lemon Squeezy Pack to draw this cute tiny lemon.
Tip #4: Give abstracts a try!
Speaking of easy little art! Swatch your colors in a creative way. Spread the colors around the piece to create balance.
Tip #5: Keep you art space tidy!
I always try to clean my space. If I’m not feeling motivated, I pick a song or a short YouTube video and I clean what I can until it’s over. That way when I go back to my space I am ready for art instead of having to budget cleaning time.
Tip #6: Embrace imperfection.
If you are doing a quick art session, chances are you don’t have time for all the bells and whistles. Focus on one thing: colors, theme, contrast, a specific product, etc.
You can keep making these little art pieces until you can put them all in a frame.
