Whether you’re headed to the beach, the mountains, or another favorite spot this summer, here’s a fun and easy project to take with you! Grab these free printable summer adventure bookmarks (doodled by Amy Latta Creations) and your favorite Dual Brush Pens, and you’re ready to create.
Materials:
- printable summer adventure bookmarks
- white cardstock
- scissors or paper cutter
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens
- Tombow TwinTone Marker Set, 12-Pack Bright
How to Make Summer Adventure Bookmarks:
Step 1: Save the free downloadable file to your device, then print it onto white cardstock.
Step 2: Cut the bookmarks apart.
I like to use a paper cutter for precision, but you can also use scissors.
Step 3: Add color using Tombow TwinTone markers and Dual Brush Pens.
Both the Dual Brush Pens and TwinTone markers are dual-tipped, so you’ll have four tips to choose from as you color. The Dual Brush Pens have a large, flexible brush tip on one end, which is great for filling in larger areas, and a smaller 0.4mm bullet tip on the other end, which is ideal for smaller areas and details. TwinTone markers have a 0.8mm bullet tip and an extra-fine 0.3mm tip. Both marker types have vibrant, water-based ink and come in a great variety of colors.
Pro Tips:
- You can easily blend Dual Brush Pen colors, either by overlapping them on the paper, or by using a blender pen.
- For a watercolor effect, scribble your marker ink onto a non-absorbent surface like a plastic sandwich bag. Then, use a wet paintbrush to pick up the ink and paint with it. This works best if you print the bookmarks onto Bristol board or hot press watercolor paper rather than cardstock.
This is such a relaxing project, and it’s useful too! Once you’re finished, your bookmark is ready to use for all your summer reading.
