NOW, ON TO MY PROJECT!
I took the APRIL SHOWERS theme literally and created a Baby Shower Centerpiece using the umbrella as my inspiration!
I had this paper mache container in my craft Stash and just saw an umbrella when I looked at it!
Select paper measure and cut to 12″ wide by 6″ deep to cover container. Fold scrap paper in half and draw a light pencil line to create the umbrella shape, then cut out. Trace and cut 2 umbrella shapes from decorative scrapbook paper. Then punch a 2″ circle punch from a scrap of black paper. Line up at one edge and trace half circles across the 12″ length of the decorative paper with the Tombow Mono Twin Permanent Marker.
Punch out half circles. TIP: Use scissors to trim any excess and create the umbrella “points”. Repeat with second piece of decorative paper.
Measure and cut two pieces of coordinating decorative paper 2 3/4″ by 6″ to fit sides of container. Attach with Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive, remembering to snap this adhesive off at a 90 degree angle.
Attach front and back umbrella pieces with Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive, lining up the bottom and center of each piece.
Paint a 12″ wooden dowel with grey paint, let dry. Cut off 6 squares of Tombow Xtreme Mounting Putty, stack 4 squares on bottom and 2 on the top. Gently press onto bottom of dowel, then press down firmly in bottom of paper mache container to attach.
Punch 3 1/2″ scallop circle and 3″ straight circle from coordinating decorative papers. Attach with Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive. Write “WELCOME BABY” with brush tip of Tombow Dual Brush Pen – Green 158, then outline with fine tip Grey N35. Attach to umbrella with Tombow Foam Tape for dimension.
Draw a handle on coordinating decorative paper, cut out and attach to top of wooden dowel with Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive (can you tell that I am TOTALLY addicted to this stuff? – It ROCKS!) Tie a ribbon around the handle and fill with the Soon-to-be-Mom’s favorite candy for the center of the table!
remember, you can make anything you want using the Mood Board as inspiration and April Showers as a theme. This challenge will start on March 30th and will end on April 12th at 11:55PM EST. The winner will be announced Monday April 13th!
