Planner organization is one of my FAVORITE things! I can’t do anything without my planner, and if it isn’t organized I fall apart!
This is a picture of my planner for the month of October. This is the only month that isn’t filled up, so I could share it with you. The first part of planner organization, for me, is only writing things that are absolute in pen. Here I have my husband and my son’s birthdays. I post every Monday for the Tombow blog, but sometimes my day changes because of things like blog hops or events. So, I like to remember that Mondays are taken, but until I have the October schedule I don’t write it in the planner. Instead, I use sticky notes (that I make myself) to show me something is there. Also, I use my homemade sticky notes on the “notes” section because I like to write things on it and stick it on my computer, or on my desk, to tell me what I need to do. I write notes in that section that are things I want to remember for me.
Every year I buy the same planner. It usually costs $3. It is a no frills planner, just weekly and monthly dates. My planner isn’t about family memories or anything like that. It is all about everything I need to remember for the month. Design deadlines, appointments, kids activities, parties, oil changes, etc. It doesn’t have a pocket, so I make my own. I like to have a place to put all of the special things I get throughout the year, like cards, notes and such. I take a file folder and cut it to the size of the back cover and adhere it with Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue.
I make sure to leave room at the bottom, where the folder expands, so I can fit a lot of things in it. I use ribbon on each side to keep it together. I also use Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue to attach it.
When I make the pocket, I fold over some of the folder and make a small pocket in front of the big one. This is for small things like business cards and such. That is where I put my ultra AWESOME congratulations note from Tombow for being on their design team!
These are my home made sticky notes. Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue is re-positionable when dry, so if you put a thin line of glue on the back of your paper, let it dry and stack them on top of each other you have your own sticky notes! And they are the exact size you want! My date boxes in my book are 1 1/4″ x 1 1/8″ and now I have that exact size sticky notes!! How awesome is that!!
I like to put the stacks of them on the inside of the front cover of my planner.
And now I have the super awesome ultra ah-MAZE-ing Tombow AirPress Ballpoint Pen! Oh my heck this is the best pen EVER! It writes on dusty paper, wet paper and it even writes upside down! It is soooo smooth to write with and it has a sweet rubberized grip that makes it easy and comfortable to hold. The clip on the side fits perfect in the spine of my planner!
I hope you try some of my planner organizing tips!
