just a note…by melissa cash 2

Can you believe it, it’s April already?   The first quarter of 2012 just flew by.  Speaking of flying, I will be taking a little trip to New York soon to visit my sweet niece, Kelly and I have been busy trying to figure out what to wear as the weather seems to be changing day by day.

This brings me to these sweet little notepads as I have been making lists of things that I can’t forget to take.  I am trying not to check any luggage so everything must go into a carry on duffel/duffle (apparently both spellings are correct, pick your favorite) bag and tote bag.

This week the Tombow team has been sharing projects created using Tombow’s Fastener Tabs.  If you don’t know what Tombow’s Fastener Tabs are, you are missing out!  These are little self adhesive velcro tabs that are amazingly easy to use and so very strong.  Me likey!
The little note pads are 3.5 x 5 inches in size and I picked up a pack of five for a buck at my local drug store.  For the first pad, I cut a piece of paper 3.5 x 12 from the We R Memory Keepers Good Day Sunshine collection and positioned the pad inside using Tombow’s Mono Multi adhesive on the back of the pad to ensure that it was firmly attached and would not fall out.  The green and teal decorative pieces of paper were attached with Tombow Mono Dots Roller and for each of the flowers and greenery I used Tombow Mono Aqua as it dries quickly and clearly.  I added a dollup of Mono Aqua to the center of each flower and poured on some gold Gala Glitz for a little pop.  The Tombow Fastener Tab is under the sentiment flap(see below) allowing for a strong closure for the cover.
My second note pad has a side opening.  After I cut the strip of paper I pulled out my Spellbinders Labels 20 die and cut the edge only of the strip to create the pretty scalloped flap.  A Tombow Fastener Tab is under the flap holding the notepad closed nice and tight.  I added some thin glitter letters to the notebook. I have had these glitter letters for sometime and they had lost their sticky so I added some Tombow Mono Multi to the back and they were good to go!
Scribble a little Tombow Mono Multi to the back of the notepads and you will be sure that they will stay in place and not fall out when you open the cover.

Did you know that you can easily cut the Tombow Power Tabs to fit whatever size you need?  For the ribbon, I only needed a little strip so I just cut a tab with my scissors and I was good to go!

These two pictures show how the Tombow Fastener Tabs are neatly applied to the flaps of the notepads.  Love this!
