Hi Tombow Friends! This is Jennie with an easy to tutorial to make a faux book decoration! I love to read and I decorate my bookshelf every season, so I was looking forward to create something new for Spring!
Supplies:
- Tombow MONO Multi XL Liquid Glue
- Cardboard box
- Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent
- Patterned Paper
- Embellishments
Step One: Clean up the box
When this box arrived, the shape inspired me to create a book decoration. Sometimes we need to let things tell us what they want to be! The first step is to cut the excess of the box and clean up the edges using a craft knife.
Step Two: Cover the book with paper.
Pick a pattern paper to cover the box. Make sure that you have enough to cover the book. I had to use two and a half 12×12 pieces of pattern paper. Apply the Tombow MONO Multi XL Liquid Glue. Spread the glue on the cardboard using the broad tip. Once you are done, it’s easy to clean. Use a paper towel to remove the excess.
Use a bone folder to score around the edges of the box. This will make the paper fold over edges easier.
Cutting triangles on the edges will help fold the paper on the tricky corners!
Start with the cover of the book decoration and then add paper to simulate the book pages.
Step Three: Decorate the cover of the book decoration.
Use the Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent to glue embellishments on the book cover. Layer embellishments of different textures and sizes to create an interesting cluster! This adhesive is refillable and compact!
The colors and patterns on this book decoration are perfect for Spring!
One of the items I added to the book decoration was a doily to add a different texture and separate it from the patterned paper on the book cover.
This was a fun project! We hope you enjoyed it! Share your Spring inspired projects using the hashtag #tombowusa!
