Don’t you hate it when your art work is ruined because of a pencil smear? Darla Dixon does too, and that is why she loves to use Tombow MONO Drawing Pencils. Darla creates pencil portraits and her work has been published many times and it is even sold internationally.

She prefers to use MONO Drawing pencils because the artist slant and extra-refined, high density graphite help her to create smearproof portraits! With a break resistant point, these Tombow drawing pencils are perfect for blending and will help you to produce crisp, clean drawings with the added value of slow wear for smooth, dense writing and are available in multiple point strengths.

Check out some of Darla’s workon her blog and learn more about MONO drawing pencils on our website.

Tombow Brush Pens meet Glimmer Mist! This technique results in a beautiful abstract image with a soft glimmer. Very artsy; everyone will want to know how you did it!
Supplies; Cardstock, Prima Stencil, Dual Brush Pens, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Mono Adhesive Permanent, Tombow White Gel Pen.

Step One
Using Tombow Dual Brush Pens, color the plastic ʻpositiveʼ stencil from Prima. Use the brush tip, no need to be neat about this! The colors used here are 847 Crimson, 856 Chinese Red, 245 Sap Green & 346 Sea Green.

Step Two
Use Tattered Angelʼs Glimmer Mist and mist a piece of watercolor paper – I used Iridescent Gold. Place the stencil colored side down and leave for about 10 minutes to let the colors absorb into the paper. Remove stencils and let dry completely.

Step Three
This is what it will look like after the stencil is removed; do not worry about the bleeds and not-too-perfect image, the next step will fix it!

Step Four
Place the cleaned stencil back over the image. Spritz with a darker Glimmer Mist color that enhances the colors used for the rose. Here I used Turquoise Blue.

Finishing
This is the finished Glimmer Rose panel, trimmed and ready to use on a card.
The finished rose panel was adhered to black cardstock using Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent. The lettering was added using Tombow White Gel Pen.

Joanna challenged the DT members this week to create something about our home town. Comstock’s population was about 67-ish. We’ve had some people move in, so not sure what it is now. We actually live in the country.

My project is of a picture I took in Comstock’s flower garden. This garden is almost one full block by 1/2 block. It is absolutely gorgeous and ONE woman pretty much takes care of it herself! AMAZING!!

Comstock has one main street that is 4 blocks long and the flower garden is my favorite part.

This is the photo I took:

and here is my card after playing around in my software. I muted the edges and then added the sentiment. I love how it turned out:

I used Tombow’s Mono-Adhesive Permanent to put the card together.

Ralph Kelly is a cartoonist at Airgrafix Airbrushing in Houston, Texas specializing in drawing caricatures of people.  He has created many instructional DVD’s on how to draw and color caricatures.

All of his caricatures are hand drawn and Ralph loves to use the Tombow Dual Brush pens to color his creations because of the pen’s flexible tip and fine brush combination.  Visit Ralph’s website to see his work and even send in your own picture to be made into a caricature!

Our challenge for this week from Tombow is “Anything Goes”. I LOVE those kind of challenges. Ü
When I made my first stationary box (scroll clear down to see) and mailed it, the post office lady asked if I would make her one for her niece for a bridal shower gift.
This was made with these postage stamps as the inspiration.
Here is a peek at the inside
a closer view of the address book and stamps.
The directions for this stationary box shows you how to make your own address book, but in my stash were these little 3.25″ x 4.25″ composition books. I don’t even remember where I got them, but they come 4 to a pkg. I was so excited to find out that the size was perfect for this.

I cut these tags with my Cricut using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge.

These are the little notecards. I made 4 of them (don’t know where they came from either, but were in my stash. Maybe SU!??
And here are the six cards with envelopes (not shown). I kept them generic so the receiver could use them for any occasion.

I used Tombow Mono Adhesive Power Bond to create the box and Mono Adhesive Permanent for everything else.
