Yes, this summer seems to be taken over by dolls at my house and I have a love-hate relationship with them. I love that she can be so creative and entertained by just a few toys, I’m hating the picking up of teeny- tiny little papers, shoes and hair bows. That being said, when the Hambly Happiness box came to my house I knew what I was going to do with it and I knew that it would be my daughters favorite Tombow Tots project ever (even if it added to the doll drama).

These just started out as the cheap little 1.99 chalkboards from the craft store and with a little paint on the edges, a BEAUTIFUL Hambly screen print on the back (put in with MONO PowerBond adhesive), a few Clips (put on with MONO MULTI Liquid Adhesive)and of course some butterflies to add to the magic (put on with MONO Adhesive Vellum — perfect for all those overlays)  it’s turned into the ultimate set-up for a miniature classroom. She even went above and beyond making miniature notebooks and ‘scrapbooks’ for the dolls. Now her summer school set-up is complete. She can’t wait to play with it and I am dreading the picking of up it… I guess that’s the way it goes, right? The creative circle of life.

Remember to check out Hambly’s new DT on their blog and make sure to add  Tombow to your Facebook account too… we’re sooooo close to 1000 friends and we need your help. We’ll have a HUGE giveaway as soon as we reach the magic number so keep an eye out there too. Happy Tuesday!

the box from paper posies arrived and i opened it expectantly. i have never ordered from a kit club before. i was excited to use products that i wouldn’t normally buy for myself…and i was not disappointed. take a look at the loot!

i wasn’t inspired instantly, i had to sit on it for a few days, but then looking back through it i saw the maya road chipboard tickets and then i hatched an idea. my assignment was to do something altered. so i went to my box of items that i have saved for just an altering occasion. in there was a box that i had saved from a wallet i have from franklin covey. the box is really sturdy and i knew one day i would find the perfect use for it. well, today is that day.

i decided to make a ticket box…a place to keep tickets from shows that i have the pleasure of attending….broadway, local theatre, my daughter’s dance recitals. i don’t always get to take a picture at the event, or if i do, one picture and a ticket don’t always make a full scrapbook layout. so i set out to create a place to save them.

on this box i did the top cover and inside the front cover (when you flip it open). because it was a box and not a layout i felt a little more daring and layered a little more than i normally would. using pearls and the flowers is out of my comfort zone, so it was challenging but i LOVE LOVE LOVE the result. did i mention LOVE?
thanks paper posies. i think i have a new way of buying my scrapbook supplies. send me another kit!

to make the box i used Tombow PowerBond to adhere the paper to the box and to each other. I used Tombow MONO Multi on the flower, the lace paper (although i was very minimal with the application of it, so it wouldn’t ooze out the sides when i smoothed it down) and the chipboard. i still used Tombow Mono Dots on the ribbon on the inside of the box. the lace paper was actually pink, so to make it coordinate with my “blues” i flipped it over and colored the backside with a Tombow Dual Brush Pen #312. the chipboard ticket inside the cover was done with #879, as was the writing of the quote, also on the inside.

i LOVE it so much that i am going to find myself another box and make one for my son using sports paper and stickers…for all the braves games he goes to!

(and just as an afterthought…maybe find a box big enough that programs can be stored inside too with the tickets. i see the tickets laying loose in the box and easy to look through. however, this collection from franklin covey had 4×6 photo album/sleeves too. i had scored myself one of these that has been laying around,
so i am going to use it to hold the tickets and try to be a little
creative with the presentation by scrapbooking a little 4X6 card to
stick the ticket to and that one picture that is taken outside the theatre. )

p.s joanna are you proud of me? my first vintage piece!

supplies: Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, Dual Brush Pens #873 (peach), #743 (pink), #452 (turquoise), #192 (green); Maya Road Clear Jewel Flowers, David Chipboard Alphabet; Making Memories Paperie Poolside patterned paper, EKSuccess scallop punch

This month is all about Tombow Dual Brush Tip markers and this week is Maya Road, I love the combination.  For this card I colored Maya Road’s chipboard letters with four of the markers (see supply list for colors) using the brush tip end. Then for the inside of the card I hand wrote “missing” with the pen tip end. Tombow’s Mono Multi Liquid Glue is perfect for adhering the jewel flowers (also Maya Road) as well as the letters to my card. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to comment for your chance to win.

This stamped calendar would make a nice gift for a favorite teacher. The cling stamps, mini hanger and calendar creative scraps are from Craft Secrets’ Heartwarming Vintage Collection.  The images are colored with the Dual Brush Pens and paper pieces adhered with MONO Adhesive DOTS. The calendar panels are held onto the main panel with two large brads. Each month can be slipped in easily and quickly. The extra month panels are kept in a small envelope at the back of the calendar panel. MONO MULTI Liquid Glue is used to glue down rhinestones to the crown and butterfly wings and is also used to add glitter to the wings. To handle tiny rhinestones easily, I like to make a small ‘sticky pick-up’ stick. Simply add a drop of MONO MULTI glue to the tip of a wooden skewer and let dry. When ready to place a rhinestone, add a tiny drop of glue and then pick up the rhinestone with the sticky pick-up stick and place perfectly. No more sticky fingers or rhinestones flipping over while placing on your projects!

start by going to home depot or lowes or a similar kind of store and picking up some sheet metal.

unfortunately the smallest piece i found at home depot was 12×18, so it needed to be cut down to fit the 8×10 frame. this was the most difficult part, but perhaps a very nice person in the store can help you out. so my 12×18 piece became two 8×10 pieces.

next i gathered up paper and embellishments that coordinated together. the finished picture is october afternoon’s report card line, and the in-process board used the cherry hill line, also by october afternoon. i picked up some chipboard circles that i had from bazzill basics, and i made sure i had my Tombow MONO MULTI liquid glue...my adhesive of choice when putting together chipboard and other altered projects. lastly i made sure i had my scissors and paper trimmer, some “raw” magnets and a picture frame. (take the glass out of the picture frame)

i cut my paper so it was about an inch to an inch and a half bigger than the sheet metal. then i spread Tombow MONO MULTI over the front of the metal. i adhered my pattern paper to the front and folded the excess to the back, gluing it down to the back too, also with my MULTI.

using stickers and paper scraps decorate the front of the sheet metal. i choose to do just a few simple strips.

then cover the chipboard circles with pattern paper, when the glue is dry cut from the pattern paper with scissors or rub the edges with sand paper. embellish the front with stickers, rub-ons, etc., and use Tombow MULTI to adhere a magnet to the back. fyi, “raw” magnets are pretty strong. when gluing them to the chipboard circles be sure to separate them so they don’t accidentally “stick together”.

not pictured…i also took Tombow MONO AQUA liquid glue and a foam brush and coated each finished chipboard circle/magnet, to seal the elements together and protect it a little.

my daughter loved helping to make these for her teachers. i let her pick the embellishments and put down the glue. it really goes together quickly, even when little hands are helping out. she even choose to use buttons for some of the magnets instead of chipboard pieces. nice touch miss c!

thank you to all you teachers! as a parent and a teacher myself i completely understand the challenges you face each day. you are truly appreciated!

PINK PAISLEE WEEK, keep the comments coming! I love clipboards! I tend to be a bit obsessed with having them hanging around my office so I can quickly grab them to use while taking garden notes outside or for planning, sketching or doodling on my lap when sitting out on the deck or watching TV.  When I saw the ravishing paper and embellishments from the Pink Paislee Queen Bee Collection I knew I wanted to embellish yet another clip board.

To cover a clipboard with decorative paper you need two essential tools; a sanding block and MONO MULTI Liquid Glue. A bone folder is also handy. I really like the wooden clipboards from Walnut Hollow. The hardware can be easily removed for easy covering of the board.  Cut the paper pieces slightly larger than the board and use the wide applicator end of the Liquid glue and cover the back of the paper lightly with glue. Use the bone folder to burnish down the layers of paper and crease the excess paper down at the edges. When dry, hold the sanding block at a 45° angle and ‘cut’ the excess paper away by sanding. This gives a beautiful flush edge. Replace the hardware and add decorative accents, gluing down with the MONO MULTI. The glue is very strong and even embellishments glued to the hardware hold fast, even with heavy use.

Don’t you love it when one good idea spurs on another? and then another? and then another? That’s what THIS set by Print Your Party did for me. I made up the invites (in about 10 mins!) added a few pearls and rhinestones (because you can’t have a girly-girl party without tu-tu’s, pearls and rhinestones) held tight with my Tombow MONO MULTI Liquid Glue. Just a box of crayons with the drink labels wrapped around but, I love the added touch! Seriously, 12 sets for invites, drinks and favors…. time? less than 15 mins… not joking. It’s official the secret is out and I’ve decided that the girls over at Print Your Party must be the craft fairy themselves! i had seen an idea to use a picture frame as a message board over a year ago and i just had to made some… i went through my scraps, bought some frames and was totally uninspired. fast forward to last week. i opened a box that had the lovely early bird collection from Cosmo Cricket and i knew just how to use it! i’ll definitely be making more of these, what a fun gift. it came together quickly too. just a paper trimmer and Tombow MONO MULTI liquid adhesive is all it took to wrap the paper around the chipboard that is included with the frame. a few Cosmo Cricket chipboard stickers, a quick title and i was done. seriously, fifteen minutes from start to finish! i’m off to get a jumpstart on this fun gift for a few special people in my life. thanks Cosmo Cricket, for some much needed inspiration.
