Ever see one project and have it inspire about a million others? That’s how Mirkwood Designs Milk Carton is for me. I’ve used it a dozen times, In a dozen ways and I still love it! This week we’re using it with Graphic 45’s Playtimes Past Collection to make a few candy boxes for some friends.Let me give you a few tips here… just from one Mom to another. First, If you want to present the box closed then still have it open like school milk cartons, use your MONO PowerBond Adhesive on the top side that you want closed, then use your dots on the side that you want to open up. Second tip? It’s way easier to have this pre-cut and scored if you have younger kids. They just don’t have the patience for it and while it looks intimidating, it does come together in a snap once you get the concept down and really even if you don’t have kids you can still do the project, trust me, it’s that fun. Who know’s it might inspire a dozen other ideas for you too!

My house this week is crazy and busy and yet still so fun. It’s the last week of school and our Kindergartner’s are literally jumping out of their chairs with excitement. In preparation for this week’s chaos I had the kids make up little summer gifts to give out on the last day of school. The fun part about these projects is that it’s really simple, the kids can be creative about making them and it adds a lot of personality to the end of the year party favors. You can add these fun toppers to any gift too so it makes it low stress! Which is good since I probably couldn’t handle anything more added to the to-do list this week.
To make these you just measure the existing manufactures label and use that as a pattern to make your own. Cut Card stock and Patterned Paper, Score and Staple over the top of label, and add your own embellishments with Tombow MONO Glue Stick. I printed out my quote before scoring to speed up the process and then I just handed it over to the kids. I love how they turned out but eve more important is how much the kids loved it.

This week’s Tombow Tots is about touch and texture and being outside. Enjoying the outdoors and discovering the little treasures it holds for your little ones. It’s also about finding the right adhesive for each material. First we took the kids on a nature treasure hunt. You could go for a hike, take a walk through your neighborhood, or just search the backyard. Just make sure the kids have a bag or basket to put their ‘finds’. Have them look for items that have different colors and textures and shapes. It’s actually quite amazing to see their personalities come out in what they find.
I found one simple owl pattern in a coloring book and copied it onto card stock but any page from a coloring book  works. I my big box of adhesives in front of the kids and let them go to town. Some worked inside the lines, others built entirely new pictures. They all loved it! I will say that the easiest adhesive for them, regardless of age was the Tombow MONO Glue Stick, although a few of the items (like rocks and branches) stuck on the best with MONO Adhesive POWERBOND. (they won’t budge!) Both of those dry almost immediately so it helps with the patience level too. I love the finished product it created and I’m sure this will be one activity the kids beg to do again and again throughout the summer. Oh wait, one more tip! And trust me, this is a good one. Use the picnic tables outside to work on. My poor kitchen floor  didn’t appreciate the twigs, leaves and dirt that was tracked in. :) Happy Tuesday!
