The first card is a 6×6 card, so quick…just cut a 12×12 in half, cut a piece of coordinating paper 5×5, glue it on with Tombow Mono Permanent Adhesive. Cut a 1×6 strip of cardstock and glue that down across the 5×5 square. Fasten the trim by running a strip of the permanent adhesive along, and then press the trim into place. Add a flower and a cute journaling box and you’re good to go!

The second card is 4×6. Cut a 4×12 piece of cardstock, then cut a 3.5×6 piece of this REALLY AWESOME lace paper. Use Tombow Mono Permanant Dots on the back side of it, and it’ll only put dots on the paper parts, so there isn’t sloppy adhesive showing behind. COOL! Then I stuck a cute round tag, followed by a tiny pearl dragonfly. That’s it! Remember  it’s your last chance at the giveaway this week so keep the comments coming and to check out
Paper Posie’s cute site for more inspiration using July’s kit as well. Winner’s announced Monday!

Paper Posies is a monthly scrapbooking kit club dedicated to bringing theirmembers the hottest and newest scrapbook products on the market.  The kits are chock-full of patterned papers, specialty papers, cardstock, always two alphabets, ribbons/trims, tons of embellishments, and an alterable project (and this month, some added Tombow gifts!).  Their Design Team gallery is ALWAYS full of inspiration and ideas on ways to use the product in the kits.  They  have challenges (and PRIZES!) going on ALL month long to keep creativity readily flowing.  Add to that a fun and friendly message board with a live, online chat every Friday at 11am PST and a regularly updated blog and you can see exactly why we are so excited to partner with them this month!! This week we’ll be featuring projects from our DT using the Paper Posie’s July kit. Of course we’ll be doing our amazing giveaway at the end of the week so don’t be shy, you won’t want to miss out!

Old Fashioned Picnic Invitation

The Paper Posie package arrived and I was immediately motivated by the sizable assortment of paper and superfluities – a beautiful collection of soft, romantic colors that quickly inspired a vintage project. With Independence Day coming up I thought an old fashioned picnic was called for, complete with a fun invitation.

The invitation includes a pocket in the front, held down firmly with MONO Adhesive Permanent. Place the i

nvitation, chipboard tickets or even a menu into the pocket.

The ruffled ribbon accent is super easy to make. Lay down the MONO Adhesive Power Bond and a very thin line of Mono Multi Liquid Glue onto your project. Take a length of ribbon (I usually work right off the roll), and pleat it down the adhesive in a back and forth fashion. Don’t worry about being perfect, the irregularities in the size and direction of the pleats are what make this embellishment so endearing. The adhesive holds the pleats in place as you work and the Multi Glue holds it forever, especially when working with wider ribbons.
The chipboard tickets were colored with the Dual Brush Pens, with the easiest and fastest way ever to finish ‘raw’ chipboard! I used #723 pink and #126 light olive to match the Paper Posie package. Scribble the colors onto a piece of plastic and spritz with water. Place the chipboard down into the color and lift. Repeat until it is covered with color. To give the antique edge, and while still wet, run a #977 saddle brown Brush tip around the edge. The brown will blend as the chipboard dries.

I finished the pieces by stamping details with brown ink.

The Paper Posie package was not even dented – so I created a page ready to add favorite photos and journaling after the picnic! I would most likely antique the photos before printing to match the theme of the page. I mirrored the pocket from the invitation and kept the design simple with a quad panel showing off the pretty papers. This would also make a fun gift for an honored guest at your picnic.

School is out and it’s the perfect time to send out Graduation cards and finish up a few School Layouts before the ink dries on the report cards and the memories are covered up by summer fun. This card April made is perfect for slipping a little summer money into and sending to a niece or nephew. I loved the color combo and the pocket idea so much I used it as a little further inspiration on my latest school layout… On mine I added a little Glimmer Mist, a splash of October Afternoon and brought it all together using our MONO Permanent Adhesive Roller. Even the cork elements on the layout are not going to budge. I’ve been meaning to pull all the elements from the school year together in one place and just never felt like I could do it without it being too overwhelming. April’s card was just what I needed. It’s funny how one thing can spur others on in different directions. Thanks girl for the inspiration!

Guest Designers are my favorite! Not only because we get new ideas and perspectives but because it’s so fun to introduce you to some amazing designers out there! Today it’s all about Jennifer Weight. You may have seen Jennifer win the Gypsy Design Challenge last fall her winning wedding centerpiece was seriously insanely beautiful! Thankfully, I’ve been lucky enough to have known Jenn since I was 8 (and yes, she’s always been that creative and talented!). She currently lives and works in Eagle Mountain, UT. Check out this creat Thank You Card (and Gift!) she made just for us…

We all have many gift giving occasions and in this day and age, many of us have a limited budget to work with.  Here is a quick, simple and inexpensive way to give a heartfelt, hand made “thank you” to a friend.  This project includes a very simple card and a small arrangement of “forever flowers” (because flowers made with paper never wilt or die).

Items needed:
Empty glass juice or drink bottle
Decorative marbles or rocks
Floral Wire
Dual Brush Pens
Lot’s of Adhesive (including double sided foam squares)
Paper
Flower stencil, die cuts or punch
Ribbon
Hot glue gun
Buttons
“Thank You” sentiment (stamped, written or printed)
Card embellishment (optional)

Skill Level:
Beginner
Approx. 20 – 30 minutes

First prepare your empty glass bottle.  Empty juice or drink bottles work great!  Remove the label and clean the bottle thoroughly.  Next, fill the bottle with decorative marbles or rocks.  These can be found in small inexpensive bags at your local craft store or Walmart.

Next you’ll need 3 lengths of floral wire.  This can also be purchased at a local craft store or Walmart.  If you are using pre-made lengths you may need to trim them to be shorter.  If you are cutting lengths from a spool, cut each to be 12 – 15 inches long.  Use a marker or pen and wrap the upper half of the floral wire around it to create a curled look on the wire.  (Leave about an inch or so uncurled. The top and the lower half should remain uncurled.)  These will be the stems of your “forever flowers” and the curl in the wire makes them fun and easy to position at different angles.

Next you’ll need 9 die cut or hand cut paper flower shapes.  You can purchase pre-cut die cuts at a scrapbooking store, cut out traced flowers from a stencil or use a personal die cutter or punch.  Different shades and colors on the same flower really make it pop!  Each of your 3 “forever flowers” will use 3 layers.  Two of the layers should be cut the same size and the 3rd layer should be cut 1/2 inch smaller.  Here I’ve cut the larger flowers at 3 inches and the smaller at 2.5. Place a double sided adhesive foam square on the back of each of the smaller flower layers.  Adhere the small layer to one of the larger layers and offset the petals to fill in the gaps.  Adhere buttons to the front center of the small layer to enhance the center of each flower using Tombow MONO POWER BOND.   I used a Dual Brush pen to draw a “stitched” border around the smaller flower petals for more dimension.

Now turn your flowers over and and place a large dot of hot glue on the back.  Nestle the top of your floral wire into the glue while it is still hot.  Then place your last large flower layer over the glue to cover and finish the back of the flower nicely.  Repeat for the other 2 flowers.  Arrange your flowers into your glass bottle.  Pull on either side of the curled portion of the wire to extend a flower higher or push together the curled section to set the flower lower.  You may also need to trim your floral wires further to achieve the levels you’d like.  Wrap, tie and trim decorative ribbons around the lid of your bottle.
To create a small and simple card, simply cut the short side of an 8.5 X 11 sheet of cardstock in half.  Now you’ll have an 8.5 x 5.5 piece of cardstock.  Fold this in half to create a top fold card.  Cut a piece of decorative paper or cardstock to fit your card front.  Adhere decorative ribbon using Tombow’s MONO permanent adhesive roller and adorn with buttons and/or embellishments.  Cut a small piece of cardstock and write or stamp a “Thank You” sentiment in the center. Now you can give a beautiful little handmade gift without breaking the bank!  Enjoy!

Ever start a project and have it turn out completely different then when you started it? Yeah, that is exactly how this card project was. It was supposed to be a simple summer card to give with a few gifts, it was supposed to take only about 10 minutes to do both of them…. instead, it turned into an hour long project that is way funner and way cuter then I could have hoped!

Supply List:
White Cardstock
Dual Brush Pens (all from our Jelly Bean Set!)
Maya Road (super sparkly) Jewels
Maya Road’s (perfect with everything) Chipboard Scrolls (mini)
Tombow Permanent Adhesive Roller
Glimmer Mist (I put that stuff on everything nowadays!) or water
Stem do-dad’s. (seriously, don’t know what these things are called- you’ll have to watch the video for more info.)
Scissors (hint here? don’t let your scissors get dull.. it will ruin your day… just sayin’)

I’ll be posting a video on our YouTube channel soon with step-by-step instructions on how to make this great Hibiscus on your next project . Remember today is your last chance to comment for a chance to win our great Team-up prize pack! Winners announced this weekend!

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, I have a soft spot for all things vintage. Seriously vintage styles, old time-y inspired, anything with a history… it makes me a happy girl. Another soft spot I have? New babies. The smells, the skin, the coo’s and cries. Seriously? Is there anything better? I think not! I think I’ve made at least six baby albums over the last four years and four of those have been vintage inspired. Maybe it’s the contrast between old and new, or the timelessness of a newborn but, whatever it is, I love the combination and they always end up being my favorite projects. This week’s album is unlike any album I’ve done before but, I love it! It’s almost 5×5″ and tucked inside a small vanity box I found at a boutique store years ago. It’s all made with Graphic 45 paper… a little bit from every one of their lines. Whatever had creams, soft blues, pinks and greens in it. Thankfully I had tons to choose from and the album came out as beautiful as an old comfy quilt!

Check out my latest video on our YouTube Channel for a step-by-step on how to create the vintage paper roses and to see the entire album put together. Don’t forget to comment, winners will be announced tomorrow!

I love Tombow Team- Ups! Graphic 45 is a company I hadn’t had a chance to work with and THANKFULLY I have a great DT who points out amazing companies that are totally in-line with my personal style! They scream vintage chic happiness! I’ve had this pencil box in my ‘to alter’ stash for years and nothing inspired me enough to pull it out and play with it… until Graphic 45’s On The Boardwalk collection. It’s vintage, it’s cheeky, it’s beautiful and the colors are yummy! I designed the entire box around the She Sells Seashells paper… really, I just loove that mermaid! She sits right inside the pullout box as a hidden surprise. Did I already mention that I LOVE IT!?
A little measuring, a few cuts, a few swipes with my MONO Permanent Adhesive Roller, a little kiss from my brown ink pad and I was set! The reason I choose the MONO Permanent roller is because it great on the chipboard. There is not dry time and I can get al the way into the corners in a jiffy. I was planning on making this little box hold my adhesive rollers when I travel or crop on the go but… the best laid plans…. my daughter stole it from me….. Guess she likes that mermaid (almost) as much as I do! Looks like I’ll be making another one soon. Maybe on mine I’ll add a few seashells to the top.  So… What about you? What have you altered lately? What’s your favorite G45 line? What would you make with Graphic 45’s On the Boardwalk Collection and a little Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive? While you’re busy commenting below to win our mega prize package this week, be sure to check out Graphic 45′s Blog too! Their Design Team is amazing and full of creative yumminess!

so, i got a little ambitious with my graduation inspired project. perhaps too ambitious. but the result is unique and something i’ve never pulled off before, so i’m feeling pretty good right now!

graduates of all ages have received the beloved dr. seuss book oh the places you’ll go as gifts for their special occasion. i’ve been wanting to create a dr. seuss inspired page for a while now (wanted to try the doodling) so this provided the opportunity i’d been waiting for.

this page was created with Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Runner and the Tombow MONO Glue Pen.  and lots of Doodlebug crushed velvet flock.

typically i advise crafters and scrapbookers not to be adhesive abusers. but in this case, abuse away.
using two different adhesives achieves differing results. the glue pen holds the flock a little more clumpy, where as the permanent tape runner is more an even and smooth texture.

there are pros and cons of each, for instance, when using the glue pen you have to work quickly to get the flock on it before it dries. I suggest doing a section at a time and pressing the flock into the glue. then shake off the excess.

the permanent tape runner does not have a quick drying time, so i was able to roll it out in several places and then cover a larger area with the flock. in this case, dump flock on the paper and then move it around and rub it into the adhesive.

i’ve got some sweet pictures of my son finishing up pre-k from last year that will finish of this page.

now i’m not telling you that you will be able to get all the excess flock back into the bitty bottles (even if you use a tidy try) or that you won’t accidentally spill one of the bottles of flock on the table (like i did twice), or that you need to try a 12×12 layout like this one, but do try to doodle letters or a small drawing on a card or tag and fill it in with the flock or even glitter.

and remind me… i need to tell you all about Tombow’s MONO Glue Pen sometime. it is a fabulous, must-have adhesive, and i’ve got a few tips for you.
