Cool Tombow Mono Multi Glue Tip.
I had lots of scraps laying around while creating Valentine Cards and decided to make some notepads. These are the ones made with a 5″ x 8″ jr. legal pad cut in half length wise.
The scraps are from Bo Bunny’s “A Gift of Love” line”. The “Just a Note” ticket is a digital one I found online.
I have a fun little Tombow glue tip for you that I got from my friend Bridget. She said I could share, but to be sure to let you know it is not her original idea and she didn’t remember where she had seen it.
Break a toothpick in half and apply Tombow’s Mono Multi Liquid Glue to the broken ends and let dry. When it is dry it is very tacky. In the photo you can see where I poked holes in a piece of egg carton to hold my tacky toothpicks.
Now you have the perfect little “tools” to pick up tiny pieces. I love this tip! Here I layed out my flower brads (that I have cut the brad tongs off) where I want them.
Next, I pick up the first flower with the tacky toothpick and apply Tombow glue to the back and then adhere back to the note pad where I want it to go.
All you need to do is use your fingernail or another tool to release the flower from the tacky toothpick. This works really well with tiny punched pieces and is what I did to adhere these tiny hearts in this project.
first of all…i must say I LOVE BO BUNNY! and i am loving the team up with them for this week.
for years they have been putting out “must have” products, and this school line, “learning curve” is no exception.
i immediately printed out pictures from the first day of school this year. and then grabbed the paper pack to work with the colors in my pictures. i loved the green and a was immediately drawn to the “learning curve story time die cut”. once i put in on the background of the green paper there was so much blue, and so little room for all the pictures. so i started moving things around…and then is when my genius husband jumped in. (yes, i have to give him credit on this one!) “why don’t you cut it along this line here?”
well, wouldn’t you know, it totally worked. i cut that 12×12 die cut sheet and spread it out over the whole paper, leaving room for the pictures i wanted to add, which i adhered with the Tombow Mono Permanent Adhesive Runner, and it was magic. i even used the permanent runner on the delicate scrolls taken from the larger piece of paper. the adhesive runner will allow you to follow a curve without lifting the applicator from the paper. that comes in pretty handy!
i added a few embellishments, used the fun rub-on script letters. once i got over my initial “what am i going to do?”, it all came together so well. it helps when all the products are coordinated – to solve any creative block.
This week Tombow is partnering with Bo Bunny. Oh my!!! We received an AWESOME package from Bo Bunny. I LOVE it! Part of it was fall and a HUGE part was Christmas. You will be seeing lots of projects with the wonderful papers and accessories we received.
This project is made with their new Olivia fall line.
I prepared a little tutorial for you, so that you can make these too.
Supplies:
5″ x 8″ Jr. Legal Pad cut in half lengthwise (this can be done at Office Max)
solid cardstock: 5.5″ x 8 1/8″
patterned paper: 2.5″ x 2″, and various scraps 2.5″ wide
Tombow Mono Adhesive permanent
embellishments: I used Bo Bunny cardstock stickers
Directions:
1. Score solid cardstock from long ends 2 5/8″
2. Add Mono Adhesive Permanent to 2.5″ x 2″ patterned paper and adhere to top of notepad.
3. Add Permanent Mono Adhesive to the back of notepad and adhere to inside right of scored cardstock.
4. Cut patterned paper pieces to 2.5″ wide and adhere with Permanent Mono Adhesive to front of notepad cover.
5. Add sticker or other embellishments.
(note, the scalloped piece on the left notepad was some scrap left over from another project. It is not Bo Bunny paper, but matched perfectly, so I used it)
After a recent project, I was left with lots of plastic cylinder containers. They have been sitting in a box in my studio taking up room but I was very hesitant to add them to the land fill…when I saw the beautiful papers from Bo-Bunny I had an epiphany; decorate the containers with these beautiful papers and matching stickers to hold various creative materials in my studio. So if you hate throwing packaging away, use this repurposed ‘trash to treasure’ idea!
Any cylinder container can work for this project – oatmeal, coffee and potato chips all come in cylinder shaped containers. I really liked these clear ones as I can see at a glance the contents. These beautiful matching papers from Bo-Bunny are perfect!
1. Remove any unwanted labels. I only had to remove the white tag at the bottom as the paper covered all the others. I use a 80/20 blend of rubbing alcohol and Goo-Gone, it works great on all plastic or glass to remove labels and permanent marks. It also cleans and prepares the surface for a good adhesive bond.
2. Cut the paper in strips, my sizes were 10” x 3” and 10” x 2” for the label, 10” x 1/2” to cover the lid’s band and a 3” diameter circle for the top of the lid.
3. Use MONO Clear Adhesive to make sure the paper strips hold onto the slick plastic surface, as well as providing an invisible bond.
4. I used the matching stickers to embellish the containers, but the sticker did not hold well on the curved surface. A simple solution was to use the MONO Multi liquid glue to make a more permanent bond. Rubber bands held the stickers in place as the glue dried.
5. I filled the finished containers with some creative materials I use, shells, crushed coral and sea glass. For extra accents, I will be using the MONO Multi to attach a sample of the contents to the top of the lid.
Gift Bow
Continuing in my recycling manner, I solved another problem. Instead of going out and buying a bow for the top of a gift, I created one with my scraps left over from the Bo-Bunny project.
I used the instructions for ‘Green Crafting Gift Wrap Bow’ from favecrafts.com and cut the Bo-Bunny paper into 3/4” strips. Instead of holding the bottom of the brad with your teeth as the instructions recommend, I used a hemostat to hold the pieces in place. It’s amazing how many times I use this handy surgical tool for a third hand in my studio. You can find them at surgical supply stores.
A quick spray of Gold Glitter mist gave a beautiful sparkle to the finished bow. I used MONO Adhesive Power Bond to attach it to the box. The lettering on the envelope used three matching Dual Brush Pen colors.
