Aja Wells is an illustrator and graphic designer hailing from Hawaii.  After deciding she wanted to be an artist when she was four years old, she earned her B.A. in studio art from Humboldt Start University.  Currently, Aja is working primarily in the childrens market.

Aja recently featured some great drawings of puppies on her blog, created using our dual brush pens on moleskine paper.  Remembering using these pens as a child, she picked up three shades of brown to pair with the moleskine color.  As Aja says, “The moleskine paper is super thick and perfect for using markers on – there is zero bleed through to the other side.”

Visit Aja’s blog to see more sketches with dual brush pens on moleskine or website to check out more of her work.

I just love this paper for school gift projects. All of the paper is by Cosmo Cricket’s Boyfriend line.

Here is the back view:

I used Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Power Bond. I love this stuff! It is sooo strong!

We know that Tombow Dual Brush Pens are used in studios, art schools and households around the country.  But did you know that they are also a main stay in the cartoon department at Warner Brothers?

At a tradeshow earlier this year, Fred Bode, Warner Brother’s Director of Character Art & Product Development, stopped by our booth to share his love of the Dual Brush Pens for their cartoon animation.

Don’t you like the picture of Bugs Bunny he drew for us?

It is my turn to create a project for Tombow’s Tot challenge. With my boys being older this is truly a “challenge” for me to think very young again. Ü

This fun bookmark would make a great “Mommy & Me” project. My boys are teens now with one off to college very soon, but the next time my nephew comes over, I think we might make one of these together.

The “mommy” part comes from using an exacto knife to cut out the heart center.

The original pattern called for fabric to show thru the heart. That’s what I did here.

I think it would be fun to put a child’s school picture behind the heart and give to a grandparent who loves to read or even for themselves. You could also have the child draw a picture that would show thru the heart.

My “baby” is 15, but I had him make one (as he is ALWAYS needing a bookmark) to show how that would work. As you can see, he is VERY talented!

He even “drew” the wording for his bookmark and came up with it himself. It has a double meaning. “Tight” as in the boy tightly fits in the heart opening and “tight” as when you shut the book. Clever huh? Ü

I used Tombow’s Mono Glue Stick and it worked perfectly. I wanted to make sure it would since I plan to try this with my 4 year old nephew some time. Obviously the Mono Adhesives would work as well.

Joanna challenged the DT to a different kind of inspiration challenge. She sent a picture to one member and they made an item from it using it as their inspiration. Then sent that project picture to the next member and she created a project from it and etc. Go to Tombow’s blog to see all the inspriation.

Here is the project created by April that I was sent for my inspiration project.

The inspiration I pulled from her bookmark, was the Basic Grey paper, the long shape of the project (I altered a toilet paper tube), I used a lacy scallop punch for inspiration from the fringe and a flower for the oval.

I hope you all were inspired.

This is such a great idea for Mother’s Day, what Mom wouldn’t want this on her desk?

When I made my first stationary box (scroll clear down to see) and mailed it, the post office lady asked if I would make her one for her niece for a bridal shower gift.

This was made with these postage stamps as the inspiration.

Here is a peek at the inside

a closer view of the address book and stamps.

The directions for this stationary box shows you how to make your own address book, but in my stash were these little 3.25″ x 4.25″ composition books. I don’t even remember where I got them, but they come 4 to a pkg. I was so excited to find out that the size was perfect for this.

I cut these tags with my Cricut using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge.

These are the little notecards. I made 4 of them (don’t know where they came from either, but were in my stash. Maybe SU!??

And here are the six cards with envelopes (not shown). I kept them generic so the receiver could use them for any occasion.

I used Tombow Mono Adhesive Power Bond to create the box and Mono Adhesive Permanent for everything else.
