Posts from ‘Cards’

This week on the Tombow Blog, the design team is focusing on working with some of the fine art pencils that Tombow carries.  I have created two cards using the Irojiten Color Dictionary Pencils.
These beautifully crafted pencils are grouped in nine different editions with subtle color ranges in each assortment. Available in 90 colors, these premium quality pencils have an elegant enamel finish and are packaged in unique paper booklets with three editions per set – Pale, Vivid and Deep Tone. Ten pencils per edition
For this card, I stamped the pretty outline flower/leaf from the Our Craft Lounge Pretty Petals set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and then colored them in using some of the green, yellow and orange pencils in the Irojiten Seascape set.  I blended the pencils out with some odorless mineral sprits and then glitzed the flowers up a bit with some Diamond Stickles. I stamped Happy Birthday from the Our Craft Lounge Big Birthday Wishes set in black ink onto a scrap of blue print cardstock and layered it to the front of the card using Tombow Foam Tabs.  I used Tombow Mono Adhesive Dots, Roller to adhere all of the layers together and a Tombow Power Tab to fasten the button to the front of the card.

Using the same Irojiten Seascape set for this card I stamped the Classic Fabric Background from Hero Arts in Alabaster Fluid Chalk ink onto some black cardstock and then colored over the white areas with the pencils.  After I was finished coloring, I spritzed the black panel with some pearl shimmer spray.  It is so pretty in person!  The aqua panel is raised up with some Tombow Foam Tabs and the rest of the card was secured together with Tombow Mono Adhesive Dots, Roller

The theme for this week is “Pencil Me In” and I came across this awesome Digi Stamp and I just had to try it. I am trying to pile up some cards for Operation Write Home and I thought that this card would work great for the cause.

I love Tombow Dual Brush Pens they are unbelievable easy to blend, take it from me, when it comes to coloring I am kind of a newbie.  I really wanted to use that green conversation bubbles patterned paper but I didn’t want the girl to blend in the green. So I made this pattern and put it together with my Stamp Runner. For my cute girl I paper pieced the pencil and I used Tombow Foam Tabs to give it some pop and I also used Tombow Foam Tabs on the whole girl. Since this is an easel card I need that bottom piece to hold the card. If you knew that I would use Tombow Foam Tabs you are absolutely right. For the sentiment I did some double matting, which I love to do with sentiments because it gives it a little bit extra detail. I used twine tied to the red brads so I used the small Tombow Foam Tabs on the corners to lift it without interfering with the twine. To hold the twine and bling in place I used the Mono Aqua Liquid Glue.

Here you can see all the Dual Brush Pens I used. I love my Foam Tabs they are super durable and for this cause we need tough adhesive.

I hope you liked my card!!

Take Care!!

How do you like my sentiment? HAHA! I even thought of that myself. This week on Tombow we are focusing on the Irojiten colored pencils. My favorite way to color is using colored pencils and Gamsol, so this is a fun challenge for me.

This is a card I created for CHA and those that took the class loved it. They had alot of fun coloring the image and using the Irojiten pencils for the first time.

The colored pencils I used are:

Rain Forest: D03Autumn Leaf, D02 Chestnut Brown, P06 Ice Green, V06 Peacock Blue

Woodlands: P11 Rose Pink, P18 Celeste Blue, D15 Mustard, Lg02 Cork, D12 Maroon

Seascape: DL05 Verdigris

in addition:

Saddle Brown #977 was used to create the dots and dashes around the stamped image and Mono Adhesive Permanent to adhere all the pieces together.

I found out at CHA that the image from Stampavie is no longer available, but they do have a new owl image out. Patterned papers are by Echo Park.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day filled with love and surprises.

This drawing technique is the art of removing. You can quickly create beautiful drawings with the subtractive technique using thin metal stencils, Tombow Drawing Pencils and Tombow Erasers. This is a very different and enjoyable technique and can be used with any stencil image to make appealing little pencil drawings suitable for framing or presenting on a card.

A soft graphite base is added to your paper by using a homemade fabric pouch that has been dipped into graphite rubbed on a piece of sandpaper. I use a 4B Drawing Pencil or softer pencil. Transfer the graphite dust to the paper using a firm circular motion. Repeat two or three times until you have an even soft gray surface.

Use Tombow’s Removable Adhesive and adhere a metal stencil to the paper. The stencil used for the samples are from Dreamweaver Stencils. Using the MONO NP Eraser, firmly erase inside the stencil motif. Go in different directions and press firmly into the small detailed areas. I also used the small detail erasers, Tombow Zero Erasers. They come in a 2.3 mm round tip and 2.5 mm rectangle tip.

Remove the stencil. Don’t worry if you haven’t reached into every little detail, they can be added in with a zero eraser. Using a Tombow F or HB Drawing Pencil, outline the design. Continue to add details to the erased areas.

Use a Tombow B or 2B Drawing Pencil to add additional shading. You may also want to use the zero erasers to whiten any areas. A tortillion (paper shading tool) works nicely to soften any of the shading.  You want to work back and forth with the pencils and erasers to achieve the look you want.

If you haven’t tried this pechnique give it a whirl…it’s fun and with the Tombow MONO Drawning Pencils I feel sure you’ll be happy with the results.

Until next time…Happy Crafting,

Hi!  This week the team has been sharing their “Love Notes” with you.
I created a little box with three small cards that would be great for popping into your sweetheart’s pocket or lunch bag.
I used this pattern to create this sweet little 3 x 3 notecard box.  I used Tombow’s Mono Adhesive Dots, Roller on the tabs of the box to create a strong hold and solid box.  Mono Adhesive Dots, Roller was also used to apply some Basic Grey Bittersweet paper to the box top.  For each of the notes I used a variety of hearts that were cut from Lifestyle Crafts Hearts dies.  I embossed the hearts with a variety of folders with a Cuttlebug. I used some Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive to adhere each of the hearts to one another and the box top/card fronts.  The ribbon was attached with a Tombow Power Tab.  I used Tombow’s Foam Tabs (the small ones) to attach each of the flowers and the sentiment flags  to the top of the box or notecards.
It is a bit difficult to see, but one of my favorite things to do to paper flowers is to apply Tombow Mono Aqua around the petals and then sprinkle with Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight Microfine Glitter from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Here’s a pretty little butterfly with heart shaped wings flown in just in time for jazzing up your love notes for

Valentines Day!

A quick review of how to make the teardrop stroke with the Dual Brush Pens from Tombow:

Teardrop Stroke: Using the brush tip, ‘dab‘ onto the paper to make the teardrop stroke. It’s that simple!  Don’t make the stroke too small; you will not harm the tip by pressing down on it.

Brush Blending – for creating two-toned strokes  – Use a sheet of clear plastic taped to a white piece of paper, for your blending palette. To make two-toned teardrop strokes, choose two colors, one darker than the other. Add a few strokes of the darker color onto the blending palette. Pick up this color with a lighter colored pen by dragging the pen through the color. Make the teardrop stroke and you will have magically created a perfectly blended two-toned stroke. You will find you can go far with just one load of color; you do not have to pick up more color for each stroke.

Heart Wing Butterfly

Start with a large dot made with the fine tip for the head of your butterfly. Make a teardrop stroke underneath for the body.  Make the wings using the teardrop stroke, bringing the points together like a heart for the top set of wings.  With the fine tip and a fine touch, add the antennae and the dotted flight path. For additional detail, add dots on the wings with a white gel pen or glitter pen.

I hope you can use this sweet tipnique to show you’re special someone how much you care. Until next time…Happy crafting…

“What a Sweet Face” is a layout of our new puppy last year. So sweet and I wanted to remember just how cute he was as a puppy, I know the time won’t last forever.

I wanted to use these heavy chipboard pieces on the layout but the adhesive already on them did not hold on the paper, it kept falling off.

I applied a layer of Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive to the large chipboard piece so I could display the layout.  I held great, now I have a real memory keeper. They grown up so fast don’t they…

I hope you enjoyed this sweet project and I’ll see you next time…..

It’s never too early to start thinking about Easter is it? I didn’t think so, so I have created an “Easter Egg Seed Packet” for my project today.

The adorable seed packet cover and packet template is from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

I stamped and embossed the image with black ink and embossing powder. I stamped the sentiments inside the banners with black ink. The image was colored with Tombow Dual Brush Markers. I added liquid appliqué to the clouds and heat set it to make it puffy. I made the seed packet with cardstock scored on the fold lines and cut the window out. I adhered a piece of acetate behind the window and the edges of the seed packet with Tombow MONO Power Adhesive Bond . Using my doily lace punch I cut  ¾” strips of white cardstock and punched the borders. I cut the corners at 45degree angles and adhered them to the back edges of the image. Using foam tape I adhered the image to the seed packet front. To close the packet I used Tombow Fastener Tabs. Fastener tabs are sticky backed hook and loop fasteners perfect for papercrafts where a closer is needed. They close securely and open with ease!

I filled the seed packet with candy and it’s ready for an Easter basket!!

Here are the Tombow Dual Brush Marker colors I used….  947 brown, 985 yellow, 451-491 blue, N25 black, N65 grey,  761-772 pink, 623- 603 purple, 133-126-076-177 greens.

This is a fun and creative way to send some Easter fun to those you know far and wide…I hope you enjoy this project.

Huggs,

Karen

The birthday card was for a sketch challenge and I really wanted to make use of the small piece of yellow ball rick rack that I had.  The only way to attach this ribbon was to use both the Tombow Permanent Stamp Runner and the dot portion for both parts of the ribbon so that it really stayed on the card.

I also used Tombow’s MONO Aqua liquid to attach the red felt flower and the jewell emblishment. This was such a fun card to make, I hope  you enjoyed it.

Hello!  This week on the Tombow blog we are continuing our journey through some of the past Pantone colors.  Today I am sharing the 2010 color which was Turquoise.  Tombow’s Dual Brush Pen #373 (Sea Blue) was a great match so I decided to use it along with some of the Irojiten Colored Pencils for today’s card.
I stamped this adorable Benton Heart Bear from Inky Antics and then colored the heart with Dual Brush Pen #373.  I then added some Tombow Glue pen and sprinkled glitter over it to make the heart really pop.
I colored Benton with Irojiten Chestnut Brown and Autumn Leaf colored pencils and blended them out with some odorless mineral spirits.  I used Tombow Mono Adhesive Dots to adhere all of the layers together.  The buttons were attached with the the small Tombow Foam Tabs.

TOMBOW Foam Tabs

These acid-free double sided adhesive tabs are great for adding dimension to many projects, the small tab is 1/5 x 1/5 and the large tabs are ½ x ½, they are also great for layering and can be stacked for added dimension.  They are suitable for most surfaces including paper, glass and metal.  They are also crush resistant and instantly bond and hold.
