tea time….by melissa cash

Hello, I think things are finally slowing down a bit and I had a chance to get in the studio and get inky. Today I am sharing a fun little Tea Bag Book that I made.
Isn’t it adorable? I was lucky enough to recently win a fab supply of goodies from My Mind’s Eye’s new Indie Chic Saffron line. I love, love the colors in this line. At first, I wondered if the colors would be a bit to fallish, but nope, they are perfect for right now.
I started with a piece of brown cardstock that measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ and scored it at 4″ and 4 1/2″ to create the little book. Next, I stamped this sweeeeeet teapot from the Our Craft Lounge Tea Time set in brown ink onto a print piece of the MME/Saffron paper and colored it in with my Tombow Dual Brush pens and blended out the color a bit with the Tombow Dual Brush Blender pen. Trimmed it out and popped it up with some Foam Tabs onto the front of the book that had been layered with some of the Saffron prints and some pink cardstock from American Crafts. The pink crochet trim is also from the Saffron collection.
For the inside of the book, I stamped a sentiment from the OCL Tea Time set and layered it to more of the Saffron and solid carstocks. For the little tea bag pocket, I cut a piece of cardstock 2″ x 3 1/2″ and scored it at 1/4″ and 1/2″ and then removed the corner pieces (cutting on the score lines) and folding on the score lines to create the pocket. I added some Tombow Mono Multi to the back of the pocket to hold it nice and snug to the right side of the book. I stamped the tea cup and decorated the same as the teapot.
For all of my flat layers, I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to hold everything together perfectly.
I had crinkled up the doily so it would sit real flat onto the right side, so I added some Tombow Mono Multi as I knew that it would hold the doily in place without a problem.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and take time to share a cup of tea with a friend.

Today I am sharing a fun gatefold card with you. The black gatefold card base is a pre-scored card from American Crafts, they come in a pack of 12 which makes it easy to quickly reproduce your cards.
I stamped the Magnolia image from Stampendous in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then colored it in with my Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils and added some Stardust Stickles
I added some Tombow Mono Dots Roller to one side of the die cut panel and adhered it to the left side of the gate fold.
Then I added some of the small Tombow Foam Tabs to the back of the image panel and popped it up onto the larger die cut panel.
For my final touch to this card, I tied a bow with some white satin ribbon and use a Tombow Power Tab to hold it in place. I know I always say how much I love these power tabs, but they are so versatile and can be used virtually anywhere.
As always, I hope you have a fantastic weekend. The weather here in Central CA is supposed to be perfect this weekend and I am looking forward to it.

Happy Friday! Owl you doin’ today? Isn’t that saying cute?
This week on the Tombow blog we have been sharing projects that we created with stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop.
For my first card, I stamped this sweet owl image with black ink directly onto some print paper from My Mind’s Eye and then I added a bit of shadow to the owl with Tombow Dual Brush pen (#243). To get the light shading, I scribbled the pen onto a piece of acetate and used a waterbrush to pick up and place the color onto the print paper. This give a nice, soft subtle shading effect. I cut the owl out and mounted it with Tombow Foam Tabs onto a white embossed panel. I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to attach the white panel to the lime green glitter panel. A little lime twine was wrapped around thise panels and then the glitter panel is popped up onto the aqua card with a few more Tombow Foam Tabs. To add a little shine, I used Tombow Mono Aqua on the owls eyes and tummy.
For my next card, I stamped the owl in black ink onto white cardstock and then colored it in with Tombow Dual Brush pens (#623, #942 and #977) and then popped it up onto the lavendar dot card with some Tombow Foam Tabs. I added some Tombow Mono Aqua to the lavendar tummy feathers and then sprinkled with some crystal glitter.
Be sure to head over to Sweet Stamp Shop’s blog and tell them we sent you over.

This week my Tombow teammates and I are sharing with you how we like to use Tombow Foam Tabs. I am a big fan of lots of layers on my cards and therefore, I use alot of Foam Tabs.
I created this card with a cute little image from Stampavie. The image was colored with Irojiten Colored Pencils and Gamsol. I layered the image to the peach panel with Tombow Mono Dots Roller and then attached it to the print panel with Foam Tabs. The print panel was also popped up onto the light blue card with Foam Tabs. See, I told you I like them! Alot! I used Tombow Mono Multi on the back of the flourishes and peach colored flowers, this is the perfect adhesive for these intricate die cuts and embellishments. I used a Power Tab behind the yellow flower as I wanted it to sit up on top of the die cut greenery and the power tab does the trick!
Here is a view of the card lying flat on the table. Can you see the height and dimension you get with the Foam Tabs?
Another view of the tab placement on the back of the peach panel. I did go ahead and add another tab to the middle of this panel as well as I didn’t want it the panel to sag in the middle with the weight of layers on top. KWIM?
Have a safe and happy weekend! See you soon!

Happy Friday! As you read this I am on my big adventure in New York City visiting my sweet niece, Kelly. Today we are going to a taping of the Anderson Cooper show and tonight we are seeing The Lion King. I can hardly wait!
I have a small Uni-keep binder box that I created to hold all of my travel documents and tickets to different events while in New York. This binder box has a clear cover that you can insert with whatever you would like for a cover. I started with a piece of green textured Bazzill Two Scoops paper and then added the black polka dot print from the Simple Stories Destinations collection. I wanted to add a little dimension, but didn’t have a lot of space under the sleeve so I decided to use some of the Tombow Power Tabs. I love these tabs because they are thin but super strong and I don’t have to worry about anything falling apart. Ever!
As you can see in these two photos, I added them to the corners of the print paper and even to the back of the Statue of Liberty sticker. I wanted to ensure the sticker would not fall off. I also cut up some of the Power Tabs and adhered them to the back of the airplane. I love that you can cut them to just the right size! Speaking of cutting the Power Tabs to the right size, see those buttons? I cut the Power Tabs in quarters and put a small piece behind each button.
Well, I’ve gotta run. We’ve got places to see and people to watch!

Can you believe it, it’s April already? The first quarter of 2012 just flew by. Speaking of flying, I will be taking a little trip to New York soon to visit my sweet niece, Kelly and I have been busy trying to figure out what to wear as the weather seems to be changing day by day.
This brings me to these sweet little notepads as I have been making lists of things that I can’t forget to take. I am trying not to check any luggage so everything must go into a carry on duffel/duffle (apparently both spellings are correct, pick your favorite) bag and tote bag.
This week the Tombow team has been sharing projects created using Tombow’s Fastener Tabs. If you don’t know what Tombow’s Fastener Tabs are, you are missing out! These are little self adhesive velcro tabs that are amazingly easy to use and so very strong. Me likey!
The little note pads are 3.5 x 5 inches in size and I picked up a pack of five for a buck at my local drug store. For the first pad, I cut a piece of paper 3.5 x 12 from the We R Memory Keepers Good Day Sunshine collection and positioned the pad inside using Tombow’s Mono Multi adhesive on the back of the pad to ensure that it was firmly attached and would not fall out. The green and teal decorative pieces of paper were attached with Tombow Mono Dots Roller and for each of the flowers and greenery I used Tombow Mono Aqua as it dries quickly and clearly. I added a dollup of Mono Aqua to the center of each flower and poured on some gold Gala Glitz for a little pop. The Tombow Fastener Tab is under the sentiment flap(see below) allowing for a strong closure for the cover.
My second note pad has a side opening. After I cut the strip of paper I pulled out my Spellbinders Labels 20 die and cut the edge only of the strip to create the pretty scalloped flap. A Tombow Fastener Tab is under the flap holding the notepad closed nice and tight. I added some thin glitter letters to the notebook. I have had these glitter letters for sometime and they had lost their sticky so I added some Tombow Mono Multi to the back and they were good to go!
Scribble a little Tombow Mono Multi to the back of the notepads and you will be sure that they will stay in place and not fall out when you open the cover.
Did you know that you can easily cut the Tombow Power Tabs to fit whatever size you need? For the ribbon, I only needed a little strip so I just cut a tab with my scissors and I was good to go!
These two pictures show how the Tombow Fastener Tabs are neatly applied to the flaps of the notepads. Love this!

Hello and happy Friday to each and every one of you. Today I am sharing a door hanger that I made for my studio door.
I started with a blank Basswood door hanger from my not so local craft store and then slathered it with a nice coating of Tombow Mono Aqua Adhesive and then started adding pieces of paper from the Prima Songbird collection. The nice thing about this adhesive is that it gives you a little of time to play and move things around if you want, it does not buckle the paper and it dries clear and quick. Next I added the crochet trims using Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive. I like this adhesive for things that are a little heavier like ribbons and trims and embellishments. The flowers were cut from the MFT Prima Donna Petals Die-namics Die set. The flowers and the chipboard heart button were attached with Tombow Power Tabs.
The chipboard letters were white and glittery and I wanted them to coordinate with the rest of the papers and trimmings so I colored them with Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
Wishing you a happy, crafty weekend!

TGIF!
This week my fellow Tombow teamies and I have been sharing projects that we created using products from My Mind’s Eye.
I received a wonderful selection of goodies from the Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing collection.
For my first card, I used some of the papers from the 6 x 6 pad to create
little hills and then stamped the bicycle and sentiment in Adirondack Espresso ink and added some stitching with Tombow Dual Brush Pen #879 (Brown) and sun rays with #991 (Light Ochre). I also added a bit of #991 to the edges of the chipboard button in the center of the sun rays. I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere the paper layers and a Power Tab to attach the chipboard button for the sun.
For my next card, I used some of the paper from the 6 x 6 pad to create a backdrop for the Tilth Floral die from Memory Box. I tied some My Mind’s Eye twine around the card and to the center of the button. Remember, no naked buttons..:) It just takes a second to finish them off with twine, floss or even a narrow ribbon. Mono Dots Roller was used to adhere all paper layers and a Power Tab was used to attach the button. My final card used some of the softer feminine elements from the Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing collection. I added a little distressing to the edges of the print and solid panels and added a bit of Scattered Straw Distress ink to create a shabby chic look. The image was stamped with Adirondack Espresso ink and shading was added with the Scattered Straw ink and a sponge dauber. I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere all of the flat cardstock panels. Tombow Mono Multi was used to adhere the ribbon to the card base. Tombow Foam Tabs were used to pop up the image panel and finally a Power Tab was used to adhere the button and ribbon to the card.
Thank you My Mind’s Eye for your generosity!

Happy Friday Everyone!
This week my Tombow teammates and I are sharing projects with the “Luck of the Irish” theme in honor of St. Paddy’s Day tomorrow.
I created this card using stamps from the Our Craft Lounge Shamrock Blessings set. One of my favorite ways to use Tombow Dual Brush Pens is to color directly on my stamps. For this card I used the following colors: 098 Avocado, 177 Dark Jade, 665 Purple and 676 Royal Purple. I started by coloring the lighter color of marker onto the stamp and then just tapping on a bit of the darker colors. Give the stamp a little “huff” to re-moisten the ink and then stamp onto some cardstock. I then stamped the sentiment right over the top of the image. Now, some people call me an “adhesive hound” because I use many different adhesives on all of my projects from cards to 3D items.
I like to use Tombow Mono Dots Roller when I am holding patterned papers/cardstocks together as it has a nice strong hold and I can always be sure that my cards arrive at their destination safely together in one piece. Did you know that the roller is refillable? On this card I also used Tombow Mono Multi to add a thin line of adhesive down to hold this pretty May Arts trim in place. The final adhesive I used on this card was some Tombow Foam Tabs to pop up the sentiment panel. When you do this, it adds a little extra dimension to your cards therefore adding interest.

Happy Friday! I can’t believe how nice the weather has been this week, it really has me in the Spring mood.
This week the Tombow team has been sharing “Hug” themed cards/projects with you and today is my turn.
I chose this adorable image from the Our Craft Lounge Showers of Blossoms set. I stamped the image with Adirondack Pitch Black ink and colored it in with Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils and Gamsol. These pencils blend beautifully and the colors are so vibrant. I used Tombow Mono Dots Roller to adhere each of the layers together and Power Tabs on the two pink roses. I wanted the aqua rose to sit a bit higher so I used a Foam Tab to give it a little extra lift. I used Tombow Mono Multi to adhere the die cut leaves.
