I admit it, since I made Owen’s little family board book (and I love it!) I decided to make a grown up version for myself. Christmas 2002! Because this book was so chunky, I opted to accent with chucky metal and heavy inking throughout. Continue Reading

For the last 5 years I’ve been collecting Christmas scrapbook supplies. I had made 5 mini Christmas albums for family members and always had the intention of making one for myself. I’ve spent every season since then trying to decide how I was going to scrapbook my Christmases in a special way.  I thought maybe I’d make a new layout each year and then put it in one master book, but I take WAY too many pictures to have everything condensed down to a few 2 page layouts. So this year I finally decided how to solve my problem… MINI ALBUMS! So for the last two weeks I’ve been working on a mini album for each year my husband and I have been together. I’ve gotten 5 of our 9 years together scrapbooked in just 10 days. It’s been A TON of work but, they’ve all turned out so amazing and each one is my new favorite. Over the next few weeks I’ll share as many as I can starting with this one.

IMG_0378I love, Love, LOVE the look of paper piecing. I love the added dimension and detail. The problem is I rarely have the time, patience or precision to do it. While I was designing a few Christmas cards this year I decided to be super ambitious and have the main accent paper pieced. I found a great stamp and decided to alter it a bit with paper piecing and a few fun 3-D accents. I just raided my scraps and strings, then stamped the image and cut it out.  I used Tombow MONO Glue Pen for the tiny pieces and for the itsy-bitsy bell (that really jingles!) I used the MONO Metal Liquid Glue.  The kids have been jingling it all week so I know it will hold that bell on all season. They turned out perfectly and were a breeze to make…it definitely surprised me. Who knows, I might start piecing more!

IMG_0441I love collections. I collect vintage camera’s and teacups. A friend of mine collects rare books. One of my favorite things to do with any great collection is to document it. One of the best ways to do that is making a scrapbook of your collection. That way the information is never lost and your treasures are never just one in a crowd. My Mom happens to collect German nutcrackers. They’re all beautiful and they are all unique. She’s been slowly adding to her collection for almost 20 years now and when you walk through her front door during the holidays you feel like you are entering Santa’s workshop. Continue Reading

IMG_0207It’s officially time to start decking those halls! I bought these great apocathary jars back in September for the specific purpose of filling them with ornaments. Then one idea led to another and before I knew it I was covered in red glitter (and so was my office!). It was worth it though. I love the end result! I’m working on a set of white ones now to add to another jar. Continue Reading
